Pcgs ?? Ngc ??

I am diehard Pcgs .. unfortunately my favorite dealer is 95% Ngc .. should I buy the Ngc graded coins if I like them ? Always hated the solid white holders . But alot of times crossover is not worth it just for the holder.

    What are they, Modern or Classic. Stick with PCGS if they are Modern

    OF COURSE by the coin if you like it! It's ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS buy the coin and not the holder. You can always do a reholder!

    Agreed. Look for another dealer or convince him to carry more PCGS graded coins.

    Im not a wealthy collector and the reason I like this dealer is I can purchase what the big dogs have and pay for it as long as I need . None of this 20% down pay the rest in 3 months

    If the coins are worth less than say $150 who cares what holder its in? Its not worth trying to cross.

    If the coins are priced to the right grade for what you think they are, or graded to the right price for what you think they are, and you like them, then it should be ok.
    If they are series that are notoriously overgraded by NGC, and priced as if they were actually that overgraded grade, then move on.

    I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Again ... are they GAE's, or Buffalo's? (or any other "Modern Junk?")
    NGC graded coins for that variety will not bring you a top $.
    (As a general rule for the Modern stuff .... buy the holder & not the coin)

    I don't deal in modern gold .. modern gold belongs on the PM forum because they are not coins used in commerce (fight ,fight fight) image

    As said above...buy the coin, not the holder. If you don't like the white holder, then crack it out.

    Not a wealthy collector...???...Well..!!!..Us poor folk don't collect gold coins...well let's just say the majority don't...

    I guess they are a little more relaxed in grading (my opinion and guess) but the coins in question are ms 62-65 and seem deserving of the grades.

    I like PCGS holders. I dislike the NGC holders. I have bought NGC coins - following the advice buy the coin not the holder.

    I spent a bunch of money trying to get cross overs. All but one of my coins failed to cross at the same grade. All crossed lower.

    Since I learned the the expensive lesson that crossing at grade is a bit of a gamble, I've started really looking at the coins I'm interested in. What I find is that about 80% of the time the PCGS coins have better eye appeal than an NGC coin. Now I buy the coin AND the holder.

    Since I don't trust myself to buy raw, I have to buy slabbed. So I might as well buy coins that I like the way they are presented. Laying out 100 coins all in little PCGS slabs just looks so much better that having the ugly white candy-bar slabs mixed in.

    I fully expect to advance to the next stage of just buying the coin and not the holder, but maybe not for a couple of years.

    If you are as OCD as I can be, buy both the coin AND the holder you like.

    I'm major OCD .. I own one NGC from years ago and it is stored nowhere near my Pcgs

    I agree with zeebob. Buy the coins that you want, in the holder you want. As far as your dealer - there a plenty of other deals out there who will be willing to work with you.
    I won't name names, but just on these boards, I have met a few deals who are very, very flexible and a joy to do business with.
    If you don't like NGC holders, DONT buy coins in them. Chances are, they wont crossover the same grade. PCGS is a bit more strict in grading, no doubt about it.
