    I tried to stay focused on a very specific collecting goal - a pedigreed colonial type set. Therefore, specialist dealers got all my business.

    I was doin' OK until the Mint announced the end of the a bunch of fractionals.

    The stock market captured most of my wallet. As for coins, auction houses drained me too.

    Hard question to answer .. because my biggest purchase WAS at a show from my LOCAL dealer

    My purchases were minimal until mid-November. Then I had to go for the Buffs and plats. No regrets - they should be winners in the long run.

    I purchased an attractive 1901 Liberty Nickel in PC 6 with a sticker @ the Heritage Long Beach Auction in February. That's it.

    I've had a mixed bag with Ebay.

    Certainly, too many impulse buying mistakes.

    Too few coin shows in my area without full day round trip driving.

    This year I hope to attend one or two shows a month and use Ebay as a clearinghouse.

    Also, I've dedicated $1000 towards weekly searches of modern quarters, bags of Lincolns and wheaties, Kennedy Silver.

    Toss up between stocks/mutual funds vs Turban Head/Heraldic Eagle half eagles and various Charlotte product.

    I had to say my [former] local dealer because it's where I purchased my most expensive coin to date... the year before it was the BST forum, and the year before that it was probably ebay... L
