sweet. eventhough you didn't get the big money cards, i enjoyed watching it. this is the first time i've seen someone open a pre-70 pack.

glad to see you get your family involved. my family kids me all the time about how peculiar i am with handling cards.

    Thanks,

    David (LD_Ferg)

Here is a video of a board member ripping a '62 cello pack at the National last summer. It was a lot of fun, and like Manny, Kurt proved he's got a big pair.
Thanks for taping it Manny, does this make you more or less likely to rip another pack?

Just watched, thanks for the shout out! My son Griffin was thrilled!

    Monday morning blahhhhssss!!!

feel like sh*&%...must be the gum I swallowed.

Just kidding. It was a lot of fun. My daughters really enjoyed watching. We always bust packs, though usually just Legendary Cuts, etc.

Would I bust a vintage pack again? More than likely not. Though I have always wanted to bust a '61 Fleer Basketball pack even more than a '69. I will look at the cards a little more closely to see their condition. Maybe a couple of 9s.

As for the contest...how the hell can I not give the '74 pack to JMoran for his incredibly correct prediction. Question is..."how the hell did you know John?"
  • Great stuff! You looked like a pro.
  • Manny, That was awesome! IF I ever run into you at a National, I want to buy you a cold one!

  • Thanks for posting that break and the videos were great! That was fun to watch. I don't know a damn thing about basketball, other than you throw the ball through the hoop and games end in high scores. But even with that said, it was no less of a blast to see someone step up to a video camera with all the hopes and joys of a wonderous pack pull fall to the concrete so hard, he creates a crator hole the size of Texas. NAH ~ just kidding!

Seriously, that was a boat load of fun to watch. Forget the money, I bet the experience was worth it and I don't think you took much more of a risk than those who open the $800 packs of exquisite. It was very cool of you to share the experience with everyone. I don't want to sound like a complete sadist, but I woulnd't mind if you tried that again... soon!

    Thank you again!

Thanks for the video and doing something that I probably will never be able to do.
  • Thanks for posting the video. It takes real guts to open a pack like that.

Wonderful video! You've got guts and enjoyed a great experience. I've had $700 in my pocket and blown it. Who cares about the money, life is experiences and you enjoyed a great one and had the smarts to share it! If I ever see you I'll buy you a beer too!

Someone did a '74 on youtube. He got absolute junk out of it - I think Dave Kingman was his best card image

You want to see someone passionate about sportscards - you should check his videos out!

  • Thanks for the rip Flatfoot... I love the idea of the vintage breaks (got a couple of my own planned) and while it may not always (or let's face it --- rarely) turn into a profitable venture, the experience of doing it (and watching it) is priceless. OK, now rip that Maravich pack next!

    Manny,

What an AWESOME video! Yes, you have a much bigger set of balls than I! You and your daughters did a GREAT job with that video. After emailing each other for a few years I finally got to see the #1 YAZ FAN!

Morphine is good for pack ripping, just don't mix it with Manny's scotch medication.

hey John--nice to put a face together with a name and post!!

Sorry you did not get a Winfield rookie dead centered. Hope you enjoyed it. Are you sure your daughter gives a hoot about packs?? Maybe you need to let her bust a few packs open to get the excitment level up a notch or 2!!

That webkinz site is most annoying. My daughter is more worried about her cyber pet than her real dogs and fish(es). And BTW the PPK is nice, but step it up to a 1911 .45 ACP.
