the boneheads called the 1829 LM-3 (a common die marriage) a very rare (less than five known or some BS like that) 1829/3 half dime. Total load of crap, demonstrating their exhaustive research into the subject. Anyway, here's the obverse with the "tell-tale" doubled ball on the nine in the date.

Small potatoes, but this VAM1G was picked at a local coin show for $30.

Thank you guys for the compliments on my 55 DDO, PCGS graded it 63RD. Might go 64 someday, but the luster is somewhat subdued which may hold it to 63

I have got to get a 1955 DDO one day, the doubling on that is crazy.

I like the 1877 coin that neocirrhitus posted as well! That 7/7 is neat.

This is in an ANACS holder graded MS62. FS-307 RPD. Might have a shot as the finest known? PCGS bagged it for questionnable color.

Does it count as a cherrypick if its something you didnt know was special at the time of purchase? I bought this around 4 years ago for about $45 for my type set. Found out almost a year ago it was a LM10 V12 with a solid R7 rarity. Sold the piece for $1,500 and collected $750 of that amount (the rest went to the consignor/discoverer at my request).

    I was thinking MS65, I think 63 is a joke.

I discovered this variety some years ago, and wrote an article on it for the Gobrecht Journal.

Either that is THE nicest MS63 1955 DDO cent in existence, or that Trueview is very missleading!

You just never see those in RED! Especially like that!!

I looked on the registry and it says that there is a MS65 RD 1955 DDO. I looked at the picture of it and 66RB's DDO looks just like the MS65!
