Not a rant..just an observation......ebay of course

Got a message a couple minutes ago from a customer who won about 350.00 in auctions this week, he says he can't pay, may lose his house due to something that happened in the last day or so, he was also high bidder on a couple auctions that are closing tonite.........another couple hundred bucks, he said he will do whatever so I can recoup the fees and apologized.

In "normal" times, I'd be pissed, but with all that is happening with the economy right now plus a lot of good hard working folks getting the axe at there jobs, I'm ok with it,

I'm just thankful it was not me who had to ask what he did..............................it happens!

I don't know what's up but I have never had so many people not pay for stuff on eBay. I think in the past year, maybe one non-payers. These are the following eBay buyers that have purchased items from me and not paid in the past few weeks, you may want to consider blocking, it's your call.

getmustlx - Aug-24 - no response, will not respond to my Mutually Agree to Cancel request so I can get my FVF back and they don't take a hit.

e8ay_1 - Sep-12 - buyer was upset eBay calculator overcharged him $1.65 even after I offered refund. no response, will not respond to my Mutually Agree to Cancel so I can get my FVF back.

sean070767 - Sep-21 - no response, will not respond to my Mutually Agree to Cancel request so I can get my FVF back and they don't take a hit

pjones442 - Sep-28 - no response, will not respond to my Mutually Agree to Cancel request so I can get my FVF back and they don't take a hit

123gevork - Oct-05 - did not read description and does not want what they won, will not respond to my Mutually Agree to Cancel request so I can get my FVF back and they don't take a hit.

One other guy did not pay recently but i'll leave him off this list. They said they had some personal problems and could not pay for the coin. They have not responded to my request to mutually cancel either.

I have had the same thing all of a sudden, many non -payers or people requesting more time to pay!!

I feel for many folks suffering in the tougher economic times, but damn, if you dont have the funds, dont bid !!!

I didn't mention people asking to pay later. I have had an unusually high number of those too. But I have never demanded or asked people to pay right away. Within 1-2 weeks is about my limit before I start pinging people.

I agree but as cinman14 stated, you don't see it coming these days, things are changing at such a fast pace these past few months....if your income depends on someone else
or some company who has in the past been stable, then all of the sudden its everybody for themselves....they go down the tubes with no warning to you.......

No doubt it's a tough time for most right now..........

Jesse, thanks for the list ... I already had e8aj_1 on my fodder list. So far I've been fortunate ... no recent NPB, just a bunch of slow payers...

  • Just call Hank Paulson. Maybe he will pay. Unreal. Bidding on smething and not being able to pay. Just another example of what is wrong with this country. No sympathy. That is how we got in this mess to begin with.

the stockmarket slide, housing mess is creating some tough economic times for more and more people.......will not improve much for a couple more years down the road......LOOK FOR A 1,000 + point decline in the Dow Monday ot Tuesday..watch how bidders bust out of their commitments thenimage

Recently, it sure seems that way. I am getting out of selling all together and until then, I have started video taping me packing and sealing the boxes I ship out. I had a guy file a dispute against me beacuse he said the box he got did not contain the coins I had shipped. I know I packed them and the box was apparently not opened before he got it. I guess I am getting fed up with buyers in general and decided that the only way to really cover my butt was first to videotape every package I ship out and put distinctive markings on the boxes, and secondly, to just stop selling. I had planned on backing out of selling coins for a while, this just super accelerated my departure. I am going to put up most of my personal coin collection on the BST hopefully tomorrow along with some other items I have been trying to sell on the Bay. Should be some great stuff for reasonable prices, be sure to check it out! imageimage

At least you've got the coins. Nothing lost except your time. A dispute will get your fees back. Price of doing buisness. At times like this I like to think of all the wonderful, responsible customers that I do have.

Eric....I think the way you handled it is great. Shows a lot of character to understand "life happens" and trying to force a sale on someone doesn't end up doing either party any good.

Here's hoping that you relist and they go for even more $$$$

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Eric, You are among the most pleasant ebay sellers I've ever dealt with. I hope you can keep that attitude as you press on.
Sorry to hear of the fruitless auctions. Gil
