Kudos to a VERY honest dealer!
Rob Breaman of CR Coins in North Richland Hills, TX (the same man who in May found the Quarter Eagle struck on a dime planchet in a junk bag of silver) recently bought a accumulation of coins like most dealers frequently see. Proof sets form the 80's & 90's, a few Silver Certificates, some junk silver, a few commemoratives, basic junk..... The group also had a Cheerio Dollar & Cent still on the card. Rob, not being real familiar with these only paid the guy a few bucks for them. A few days later he does some research, winds up sending it to NGC.... Comes back Specimen MS68!
Since he knew the name and where the guy worked who sold it to him, he drives over and GIVES it back to him and tells him he has a $20K plus goldmine! Does not even charge him for the grading fees.
Way to go!
And before you ask, he paid $1.20 for the dime, but does not know which bag it came out of.....
I think it's Karma, an honest dealer gets rewarded for doing the right thing.

Rob even told the guy that it needs to go to Heritage.

That could work -- a reward disguised as a consignment fee...

It is nice to hear about something like this happening. I just hope that I know enough not to miss something like that! Thanks to those on this forum, that shouldn't happen!
Kudos to Mr. Breaman for doing the right thing when doing the wrong thing would certainly have been extremely profitable.
His website crcoins@crcoins.comwww.crcoins.com has no content other than contact info. He expects to have the eCommerce side up starting in Jan.

If you want to reward integrity, give him a call and say "thanks for being honest. Integrity in business getting harder to find."
I decided to just email him my want list. Maybe the next couple of grand I spend will be with him.

You can say that about any coin dealer that is a regular contributor on the CU Coin Forum.

UTAH rocks - no doubt. I bought my prettiest Jefferson 5C from him (5C PR67* NGC nicely-toned).
Thanks for the thread Utah!

It's actually an example of bad business, although a sole proprietor certainly has the right to do it.
Great story.

Based upon what I read, I would buy from this guy in a heartbeat. Had word got out that he decided to keep the coin and not say anything, I would never buy from him or anyone associated with him.
In the future the coin's current owner would bring the coin back to this dealer to consign/sell it and therefore he will see future business from his actions.
Also, anyone in the local area looking to sell coins now knows of someone that they will get a square deal from.
Could he get that much good public relations and/or advertisement from $20K?
