The image certainly portrays an unattractive coin for sure. I hope it looks better in hand or I have to question the CAC sticker. I know if I were a dealer and bought that coin sight unseen based upon that sticker, and it really looks like what that image suggests, I would not be a happy camper.
Vomit or "toilet-toning" is not hard to find on Unc. Barber Halves. Unveven, "urine-colored toning" is often found on PF Liberty Nickels. As another poster said, the coin at issue doesn't look too bad....yet. Give it a few months.

There's some major coins crawling out of the woodwork on Teletrade... love the 1874-S $10 in AU58!
This WLH has a really nice reverse and the strike isn't bad for a 1919-D which always comes mushy... yet definately not a coin to bid 5 figures w/o seeing in hand.
To Err Is Human.... To Collect Err's Is Just Too Much Darn Tootin Fun!
Even though it's flat struck it was probably lusterous, blast white and freshly dipped when holdered as a 63. It's not that bad but it's nothing to get excited over IMO. For $15k I'd want one without the black spots.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

Is this what an improper rinse after a dip job looks like?

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set: 1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S. Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

You are absolutely right. However, you were not at the lunch where John Albanese and I conversed about his objectives with CAC. I can assure you that that image is not representative of a coin that he discussed as one that deserves the sticker.

Yow. One of those sad comments that tells both the past and future of this coin.
This poor coin does seem like it has been at the mercy of amateur doctors for most of its life. And will probably be at the mercy of doctors for the rest of its life until it finally attains it's resting place in an SGS slab.

But isn't JA the ultimate determiner of what gets stickered?
How can anyone enjoy looking at such an ugly coin? This is a serious question and hopefully someone can explain it to me.

would it not be a perfect coin for a doctor to clean up and resubmit
for a higher grade?
