The New NGC slab label received

I just got back a submission of 80+ moderns from NGC and they all have the new slab label. I guess the four prong inserts don't start till January for US coins. Here is the slab with the flash and without. Notice how the hologram on the label stands out with the flash on the bottom of the label.

  • It's supposed to be a new slab too. Do you notice any differences in the slab? Should I sent all my NGC coins to be reholdered?

Yeah. Its a hologram beneath the color and the flash brings out the hologram.

The slab design is practically the same and the plastic feels the same. Maybe its changed but time will tell if they scratch up as much as the old ones.

I thought and still think the PCGS slab is too big. The NGC slab is horrible because of it's size and that big white insert.

I miss the old small rattlers and the old small ANACS slabs. image

Neat. Far as the 4 pronged, I have a proof 67 Indian quarter eagle that's in the 3 pronged holder.

I agree. The rattlers and old ANACS are the best.

Hey Cammie what's up with the 2005 bison any value in the coin? I just opened a 1000 coin bag last week of the same coins to look for errors and was ready to take the bag to the bank for even exchange. Pm if you want to deal on the bag, coins still in gemmy condition. I have both p and d bags. thanks
  • I have seen the new holders and labels and inserts...

For now, they are only putting the EdgeView holders on the top two tiers of service. They still have a lot of the old inserts left, so they want to use those up and won't start using EdgeView until sometime in the first quarter of 2009.

I really like the new label and new hologram. Just like with anything out there, if you can make it, it can be counterfeited. But, it does become harder to do and I also like the new look. I think that NGC was a little overdue for an update to their look, and I feel that the new look is nice and sleek looking.

The new shells seem thicker, they also feel like they will stack better than the previous shell. Not sure how well they would crack out though or how noticable it would be...

Oh, that's another thing... there are 3 pronged EdgeView's for certain coins because of mintmark placement. I think they may also use the 3 pronged on smaller coins... I've talked to a few people that have seen small coins (trimes and half-dimes) and they have said that they look like they are floating in the slab... I haven't seen a small coin in one yet, but look forward to seeing how they look.
