Big B&M Shop With Web Site What's The Deal
A few months back I went to a B&M's web site where have bought coins before with real good service
and was looking around a saw they filled want lists for collectors. Now to me and I maybe full of it but
I would think that a dealer could & should generate a lot of business from a service like that. Finding
out what customers are looking for and when they come across it sell it to them.
Well I put two coins on their list and low and behold last week I got an email with a link to go look at one of
the coins or rather see what the coin was and a price. I clicked on it and saw the description and the price
but no coin. That was Tuesday of last week. On Wednesday AM I called to ask about the coin maybe have
one of the sales people tell me what it looked like you know some idea before I spent 350 plus bucks but
nobody knew what I was talking about. One person I talked too said the the coin was at the Long Beach
show and he would have some one call me Thursday.
Well no call Thursday just another email syaing they had my coin and go look at it and order it. I did look
again and again no picture. Well Friday I called again and the same deal about Long Beach and really I could
understand about that no problem and the guy said he would have them call me Monday morning and I
gave him a few more coins I wanted in the 200 to 400 dollar range. Well I got still another email about
the same coin and again no picture so I waited until Monday.
Monday afternoon and no call so I called them for the THIRD LONG DISTANCE time and talked to another
fellow about the coin and he put me on hold and went and found the coin. I asked a couple of question and
he tried to help but then he offered to email me a picture and thinking finnally I got someone with some
customer service skills and said that would be real nice, by the way did you have the list I gave the other
person? What list he said and I told him never mind and asked if they stocked any of what I had told the other
guy. He said they did carry that type coin much so I let it go at that.
Well now it's Tuesday night and I reckon they are closed by now and I haven't seen a picture so I'm wondering
if I will ever get to see one or maybe it just takes a little while for them to email, guess they are real busy after
they got back. I am wondering what the heck is going on with the store which I thought was a good dealer. Any body
got any ideas? They have sent me 5 emails to come to the site and purchase and I've made 3 LD calls and I still ain't
got the coin bought yet, what should I do?
Sorry about the long story.

Or you could just tell them that it's urgent that you see the coin and that you are very interested in it.

looking for some time now. I guess this just falls under the heading of "Things Ain't The
Same Anymore". Like when you would pull into a gas station and 2 or 3 guys would come
out and fill your tank with gas for 19.9 a gallon, check your tires, fluids and wash your
windshield and rear glass. Then after all that they would give you a hand full of S&H Green.
Plaid or some other kind of stamps.
I just don't understand where all the service and niceness went to in our every day life.

Unfortunately by the nature of this comment, I think you understand the issue. 25 years ago this would not have been a problem because if you wanted to give a dealer a want list, you would have typed it up and had to run into their shop to pick it up. You would not have had to worry about getting pictures sent, because there was no email. You would not have even known about the coin, because you would not have been automatically informed. It is truly a trade-off that we have to deal with. Service will suffer a bit, but it will also be a heck of lot more convenient. Is this the ideal situation? Clearly not but at least they are keeping your want list in mind
