Just called my local shop and got a shock. Why so much over spot? Quoted me ASE's at $17.50 plus tax . And rounds not much under that. This is with silver at 11.83 spot.

Then I will pay what the market dictates. He said if you want silver for spot. Go buy some paper..
Then proceeded to show me his 18.50 ASEs.... And 16.00 rounds....
so 17.50-18.00 isn't bad if you're buying a few

Supply and demand sir. Demand is going up, price goes up. The physical silver market is tight right now and you have to stop complaining about it.

Have 2 shops in the area.....both are right at $4.50-$5.00 over spot for ASE.
$2-$3 over spot for ugly generic xmas style rounds
NO bars of any size.......one dealer told me he pulled twelve 10oz bars 6 weeks ago for NO SALE because he had too much in them to sell at these lower levels...can't blame him but would have loved to get my hands on them.
one shop pays fair for 40% and 90% silver coins.....normally right at the daily price for melt...the other shop a bit under melt.
I have seen very little silver in bullion form the last 6-8 weeks...and what I have seen.....or found....at a decent price...I bought!
Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
90% silver on eBay is going for 15% to 25% *over* melt.

Because his buy price probably had not much to do with $11.83 spot price if yer talkin physical metal in your grubby witto paw. Do you expect him to sell at a loss? If silver suddenly dropped to $5 do you think that every one shud have some to sell at $6.50? Buying and selling with nothing more than fone calls is one thing. Walking out of his shop with a chunk of metal in your hand is something else.
