Were to find morgans still in the original roll?

mkman123mkman123 Posts: 6,849 ✭✭✭✭
Hey guys someone here bought an original roll of morgans and posted a pic a few days ago. It was so neat to see that.

How does someone go around looking for an original roll still unopened? on ebay all you see are coins that are opened up and assembled or whatnot. None in the original packaging.

Any tips or does someone know of someone with some?

Thanks
Mike

I thought Morgans were issued in bags, not rolls. There may be some older rolls, but I don't think that is how they came from the mint.

Need a Barber Half with ANACS photo certificate. If you have one for sale please PM me. Current Ebay auctions

image typically bags came from the mint rolls came from the bank, so the best place to look for bank rolls is in an older banks vaults
  • It's not the type of thing that exists in quantity. You have to bein the right place at the right time to buy one.

I've handled three sealed rolls of 1922 Peace Dollars. I opened 2 and sold 1 still sealed. Very cool experience.

There were no orignal rolls from the Mint. Banks wrapped them. Trusting the apparent issuing bank is true and the roll is intact takes some faith. Definitely don't trust them if the bank is in China.

You'll need a time machine. Go back to at least 1976, preferably 1966.

Every now and then, nice original rolls come up in auctions. Not OBW, though nice and from bags all the same. Remember to look at them right before the time of sale. Many paws will handle them during lot viewing.

Yes. At one time I managed about 30 rolls of Morgans that all had packaging like that (but they'd all been opened already), and the sealed rolls of Peace Dollars had the same format of wrapper. I'm pretty sure that's what the OBW look like.
