PayPal credit card or bank account ?

I just purchased something using PayPal. A non E-BAY coin purchase. I use my credit card because if there is a problem
I have the final say on a chargeback. Why does PayPal try to make you use your bank account or their credit card ?
Here is part of the e-mail confirmation after the payment:

This payment was sent using your credit card.

- Pay directly from your bank account - purchases won't show up on bills at the end of the month.

  • Bescause Paypal is making more money when you using Bank account. And less headache for them because of no chargeback.
  • My guess would be. The credit card companies charge a tranaction fee. Paypal would like to keep those
fee's for themselves. Not to mention the intrest they will get from you...

Bank accounts do not charge a transaction fee.

  • I use my debit card in store fronts, I just do not know if I would have the same protection from
a debit card as I would a credit card if a item is never delivered. I know it has a visa logo but
I don't know any first hand stories of protection on purchases.

I dropped paypal last week because of their company policy that requires you to get "verified". Paypal needs some competition, they pay but they are not your pal!

  • pay pal can play the float on having the money instantly on hand. You make a payment to seller X on day 0. If seller X wants the cash in a check or in their account paypal can play with your money for nearly a week. As mentioned, credit cards cut into their bottom line and reduced time for actually haveing your money in their system

My understanding is that with a debit card you cannot dispute debit charges with your bank, but with a credit card you can. Thats why whenever a clerk asks you debit or credit you hould always say credit. Someone correct me if I am wrong on this.

  • Arvest bank will dipute any purchase when you use your debit/credit card they issue..

The reason I always choose credit is for the signature option. If the companies computers are
hacked they will not get the PIN number issued to the card...

This happened to us 2 years ago. My wife used to put the PIN number in while buying fuel
and paying at the pump.... I was balancing the checkbook and seen she had flew to Italy
and purchased 1200.00 worth of perfume and panties....image

The bank said the companies main server was hacked and they had gained access to 2 million
account numbers. And everyone who used their card as a debit card were at risk for fraud...

    Just a FYI
