"Every major customer we have seems to be aggressive buyers right now. However, they don’t want widgets or inferior gradeflation ravaged pieces. They will pay what it takes to buy the “right” coin. "
I get off on her reports and hiccup is one word. It is not a hyphenated word Hiccups (or hiccoughs) are a sudden, involuntary squeezing of the diaphragm, the main breathing muscle under the lungs. This squeezing action sucks air quickly into the lungs, snapping shut a valve (glottis) above the voice-box (larynx). This snapping makes the sound of a hiccup.
Nice examples of rare coins in any grade still sell well. The problem is that the vast majority of the coins currently on the market are not nice examples of their grade.

Did you read Legend's writings? This is almost exactly what they said lol
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!
The players are now International and since the advent of of the Internet, a huge wave of money (far larger than we have ever dreamed about) has come into coins.
This is very true statement as with the value of the dollar they can and ARE able to outbid the strongest US bidder with ease!
To Err Is Human.... To Collect Err's Is Just Too Much Darn Tootin Fun!

It is just an accurate observation on the state of the coin market. My local dealer hasn't shown me a circulated type coin worth considering in months. The major brand slabbed stuff being offered is either low end or just plain overgraded. The raw stuff is even worse as most have problems.

This is ancient news. Is this the best that they can do?
The really expensive coins pursued by the top .1% of the market are hot. There is somewhat a trickle-down effect for really nice coins, and then you're looking at a dead zone. Anyone who has attended a major show in the last year can tell you this.
Dealers who are catering to the very well to do are doing just fine. Everyone else is / should be cutting inventories, and only buying coins that they know they can sell immediately.
I'm surprised they're not asking me to write this stuff. A silver lining here is that you may be able to pick up a nice type coin for the grade in a series which isn't hot for less than last year.

I know someone who hics and burps. We call them hiccaburps.
I think part of it is the amount of modern stuff on the Market. There are so many sellers offering non-rare, over minted, modern stuff that, on a curve, it tends to bring the whole hobby down a bit.
But, there’s always a market for the older stuff, especially old silver and copper, pre-1965 coins. A great deal of the best examples may be in the hands of the collectors but, there’s always a market for decent collectable examples (VG to EF) of old coins.
I do think ‘overall’ we are in a correction and silver and gold has slipped a bit too… that is having an impact but, coins have been collected since 500 BC, I don’t see the hobby going away anytime soon.
I will be watching what happens at Long Beach , I was hoping that I could pick up a coin or 2 at Baltimore and everything I was interested in did not read Laura's article . Moon money on everything

Exceptional coins are still rising.
<< <i>Common "widgets" are in a correction.

Unfortunately, this would explain all the red in my registry set.
"That is a VERY dangerous sign to us the market may be topping out"
"we do believe the market overall is OFF 10-20%"
"we think the market is actually quietly correcting by 10-20%."
So it' about to correct, already corrected, and in the process of correcting. Use this information wisely in making your buying and selling decisions!

"widgets suck and cream rules"
only thing is...as example...
does a 1% out shadow a 99%????
if 99% can't afford the cream...does 1% know where the market is???
rare material will be strong
until it is no longer strong
2. The market will turn suddenly.
3. No body knows
when that turn
will happen.
4. For common, recycled garbage,
doctored coins and truly sub par
coins for the grade, they have been
soft for quite some time.
5. In this world, you pays your money
and you takes your chances.
