Is that rim damage on the obverse at 10-11:00?

Based on the PCGS type of slab, in my opinion, this was the time that they were the most lenient in their grading.

    No way that slabs today.

I don't think that coin could cross at SGS.... reminds me of that ugly girl in "A league of their own" that they took the long distance pictures of in the newsreels... the problem at the top might be a lamination.... the coin would look better if it were a split lamination with the obverse missing... ( and I love warnickels )

A 65 with a chunk missing from the rim?!?

The 'toning' looks like environmental damage.

Is it possible ..??...I'm not questioning the seller...but is there a possibility of tampering with the slab.??I can't believe that the coin inside is the original coin....JMO........

and here i just got done flaming a low grade 24D wheatie being
slabbed and i see this atrocious travesty in a pcgs slab.

how embarassing for pcgs. it makes one think that the emperor
has no clothes. that rim ding should have never allowed it to be
slabbed yet there it is with a high MS grade!

No rim damage. Looks more like the rubber ring overlapping part of the rim. Still an ugly coin just crying for a quick dip.

Why blame PCGS. If some fool pays them to slab an ugly coin and the coin isn't cleaned or damaged, what choice does PCGS have?

I agree, I don't think that is rim dammage. The toning is borderline environmental dagage if you ask me.

Im kinda surprised that PCGS graded it. I guess the reverse saved its life. If I was the grader that thing would have been bagged for altered surface or environmental damage.

Original? Man, that term is starting to get way overused.

It did not leave the Mint looking like that. It's an ugly, environmentally damaged POS which would be better off melted.

Looks like a coin switch has occurred.
Its not MS and its not FS.
How often have you seen this question?
"How did this get into a PCGS slab"?

i am going to have to disagree. no matter how i look at the coin and use my imagination...
i do not see that being the rubber ring creating that disturbance on the rim.

i say embarrassing because to me that is apparent rim damage and as another poster
mentioned not FS based on the pics.

i could care less about the toning... except that it is ugly.
