Is it worth buying a couple 07 Mint Sets still?

Read a speculative article that the 07 Mint sets may be worth one last order. Mintage so far has been 892,000 for the 2007 set. This is the lowest since the 2004 set with a mintage of 842,507.

The 04s go for a nice premium perhaps the 07 will as well.

The '04s were regular business strikes. The '07s are some supper special "satin finish" that for me holds no interest at all. The satin finish coins will always be available in perfect condition, they will never circulate.

If it is your business.. sure, if your hobby, no. Cheers, RickO

Why would you need more than one set? The chances of prices ever going up on these are slim. It's still close to a million sets that have been sold. That is a lot.

I also agree with the Satin comment. The real challenge is to get bags and rolls and find the highest graded circulated coin. These don't really count as it's much easier to find nice coins.

Not likely...the 2006 had a similar mintage of slightly over 900k & not bringing a premium

Interesting to see others viewpoints on this.

I had thought sales of this years mint set may be up due to being the final year for the Lincoln design.
This coupled with the number of sets that will be cracked open for grading may possibly present lower availability for this year's set at some future point.

The fact that they are a satin finish resulting in a much lower total mintage than the circulation strikes seems to be outweighed by the fact that most will grade out better than the circulation issues. Still possible that the collector of mint sets will be facing collectors of the Lincoln cents for this varitey in the future.

There's a good chance that a lot of these coins will end up in circulation
like the earlier mint set coins did.

Of course if that happens it will be cheaper to wait until it happens to buy
    them.

A million coins wouldn't be a large number compared to the number of states
coin coin collectors. The '50-D nickel had more than 2 million coins set aside
and it got up to $150 in today's money.

Even if 100,000 kids break open their mint set to buy 1 candy bar, it will make no significant difference in the satin population.
