Oh. Damn. Dayamn.
There are alot of morgans on eBay at any one time. Close to 2 thousand a day are listed.
Do you actually read every auction for items like this? Or do you have some sort of super computer filter that can seek listing goofs? Or do you simply do this for a living?
Do you have an eBay store where you sell your unwanted castoffs? [edit] Oh look, you do.
Fair-2 Nice coin. Are you going to get it stickered?

This thread title is confusing and misleading. The first part of the thread is essentially a statement and statement should not be followed by a question mark. Perhaps this should have been worded like this:
I am stupid. Should I have purchased an 1898 CC Morgan for my low ball set?
<< <i>Honestly to each his own but, is it really worth the time, effort, and cash to put together a low ball set?
I mean no disrespect but, $63 could pick up a nice extra fine old type coin for sure.
But if that's what you're putting together and you're getting enjoyment form it then... enjoy. >>
Actually, a AG 1893-CC Morgan is about a $100 coin. >>
only if problem free and based on the pics i will not be surprised if you find out the coin is a problem coin in some aspect. This would mean the easy 100 dollar price could drop down to what you paid.
As always, ebay is a gamble! good luck. update us please.
It's not only the trying to judge a coin from pictures, I has a 79-CC Bodybag on my last order. That coin was cracked out of a PCGS FR02 holder (I really thought it was a PO01). If it BBs, you carry it around for a few months and resubmit it.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

i am worried about the rims mostly. the coin does not even look round anymore. notice on the obv at 11, 12, and 1 o'clock
rim filed? took a nice whack in the past?
i am not sure carrying around that coin will fix the issue i "think" i am seeing.
last i checked a low ball coin should be circular. ;-)

<< <i>You may have a problem getting it slabbed. >>
Why???
BTW, did PCGS make you rename the set from "Crappy Morgans"?
<< <i>Nice pickup.

Not at all, and I can't take credit for the name of the set, another board member thought it up.

That's a shame, I liked "Crappy Morgans" better!
