no way. guys with 5k with 5 month olds who buy coins (who aren't otherwise wealthy) are playing a dangerous game.

personally, Broadstruck has a great eye. Russ is frugal as all hell and would get you great value. Barry is very very astute and has good taste. RYK got boatloads of experience. StGooGoo has his finger on the pulse but 5k wouldn't buy him near what he's most familiar with.

That's just off the top of my head. There are tons more.

These guys are supposed to be good at making deals........

  • You have 5 month olds that buy coins? Trust them while they are not old enough to keep them from you.image. Then again they are not otherwise wealthy and might retain a lawyer(or Mom) to keep them. Respectfully, John Curlis

Broadstruck, Russ, Bochiman, TomB.... no particular order... they are very good and can be trusted with a heck of a lot more than that... Cheers, RickO

Im just curious about opinions.. I have my own, but there are so many series, so many specialties and angles on buying coins, from pure collecting to pure investing that it would be impossible (IMHO) to narrow to a single person who would be the best. or is it?

every single coin has to pass the "chew" test. those are the most numismatically sensitive gums on the forum (except for maybe Puff... tho he doesn't come here anymore)

Well, let’s see, Thomas. W. Noe is still locked up, so that leaves just one other person.

    Mark Feld it is then.

  • If I wanted something seated I might ask RoadRunner. If I wanted some exotic Central or South American coin I would certainly ask MrEureka (I was pleased when I asked him to select assorted world gold for me once.) There are many others I would choose depending on what I wanted. The theme here is I would choose someone I trusted based on what I wanted and what they like.
  • Chew test....that is original. I like that answer. Respectfully, John Curlis

Is that like hiring somebody to bid for you in an auction?

Julian Liedman or Mark Feld, in no particular order.

There are numerous others whose judgment I'd prefer over my own.

Julian, Numisma, and PreTurb always have nice offerings and i've never seen them peddle any junk so i must say they (all) have good eye(s)

There are several so I'd have to split up my funds...

but I'd give some to Fatman and Leeg to add to my early commem set for sure.

edit: I forgot to say... we're gonna need a lot more money though.
