I apologize for his nickname. If this guy could get his color down pat his coins could almost pass as NT. With the right color, a couple of those Washingtons might look real nice. I;m not encouraging his actions, but these AT's are better than most.

His problem is less about color than it is the distribution of the colors. The run evenly up and over all the devices and fields. This is a diagnostic for AT. These would not even fool the TPG's

I agree, far too hard a change from one color to another, there's no gradual transition from one color to another and too dramatic a change too boot!

Just looks like it was painted with water colors.

The only time I've heard that term before was from a gay friend in West Hollywood.

The best coin doctors do even toning on the rims of Unc. CBHs, many of which are in first world TPG slabs.
I can spot it a mile away, because I've seen so many of them. You have the center of a CBH that is as white as a Washington Quarter. The rim toning is even on both obverse and reverse. It fades from charcoal, russet or a shade of blue on the rim as it gets to the devices.

Some of these coins have 'interesting' blue / purple / or other colored toning. They are all expensive, and all AT, although some may consider them to be "market acceptable."
