Has anyone ever seen or heard of copper penny the size of a dime? I just got a call from my dad and he said while he was searching through a jar of pennies, he came across a 1940 wheaty the size of a dime. Perfectly centered strike wise. obverse description - L in Liberty missing, 3/4 of the 0 in 1940 missing, In God We Trust missing. Thanks for any input.

This one is a 1941 toned and probably made long ago:
I also have a penny the size of a dime the the lettering goes up the inter sidewalls the cud thick
2000d penny
Need pics of both sides
Sounds like a dryer coin which is damage, not an error. Here is a link to some good info. As @MsMorrisine said, clear, cropped pics will be needed to confirm what you have.

Sounds like a cent/penny "modified" for a pay phone dime slot. I have 2-3 I have found in change over the years.
@Sharon652 .... Welcome aboard.... As mentioned above, we need pictures to give you a final conclusion. That being said, it is very likely to be Post Mint Damage (PMD). Cheers, RickO

Kennedys are my quest...
New question added by @Sharon652 yesterday
Yep, I admit I'd spend an hour in Dads shop filing down a wheatie to buy an Ice Cream from a vending machine. Worked great..................I was about 10 I'd say, so 1956ish?

As a kid I would sit outside the local pool hall and file down pennies on the sidewalk to use in the pinball machines.
I got good at it and could make them fairly quick.
That all came to an end when they caught me and made me pay a dime for every penny in all the machines.
