you love to see these auctions close lower and lower......it's like you get some sick joy out of it?

if there were a rediculous reason why these coins are at these levels ......something like a limited packaging option, a colorized coin (like the stupid quarters Marvel overlaid with the Silver Surfer, etc) I wouldn't be bothered at all with your thread topic or position....but this is not the case

you do know that this is the FIRST and ONLY major variety in the ASE series, one of the most collected and popular series of all time.

also, the variety has been erroneously minted to the tune of 47k, even though less than 30,000 have been reported (far less)....could possibly dethrown the hugely popular 1995-W

it has already been added the the CDN, actively traded and has been promoted by many major dealers in print in CW (not just the TV personalities)

i guess it's sour grapes. you weren't very lucky finding any or didn't persue a winner. this was a winner from the start, any experienced numistmatist knew it.

just call it for what it is.

this thread should have been titled

    "I didn't get any 08/07's and i'm pis&ed" >>

Sorry 7over8, don't mean to get under your skin, but it's my opinion that this series will correct like most of the other ASE/APE/AGE issues.

I appreciate your passion, and your stating of the facts on this "error/variety."

    Thanks for that.

BTW, I do have 1 of these coins in MS69FS FWIW....hopefully that qualifies me to post on the subject.

I guess you can look at this thread in two ways.

I'm childish and I'm lashing out, or I'm satirizing the mega John Nanney thread, as it was filled with lots of pumpers and glassy eyed dreamers.

Hey, I know what it's like to be a cheerleader for investments....I include myself wholeheartedly....it's human nature.

Good luck to you....hope you have lots of those silvery beauties. image >>

If I recall , BACK IN October 2006 , you showed a photo of 10 20th anniv 3 pc gold sets you got from the Mint .....DID YOU RIDE THE PRICE DECLINE ALL THE WAY DOWN ?????????????? >>

    Bestday, that wasn't me.

    I did purchase 1 case(10sets) of ASE's.

They are all graded in PCGS slabs with the 20th ann. designation.

I wished I had sold them back then, but hey, I still have a 300% profit after grading fees!!!!

Welcome Howdy. We will see when the US Mint responds to the FOIA request filed by Lope. They say within 20 days...So either two things can happen based on your statement...They will either be rare beauties or become Beanie babies. If they turn out to be the latter...will you buy my beanies for moon money? image

    &

They were both about the same figuring in the shipping. Both sold within a few hours, so the pricing was either right or maybe too low? In any event, I'm just goofing around but think this downturn stuff is premature.

    Not dead, just sleeping!

I'll sell you some and then I will be making money.

Right now is not the time to be making money on anything with the economy the way it is, but it will change.

I may stand corrected.....these coins are still going for silly money!!!!

Aren't there like 40k of these....is that considered a modern rarity???

Full disclosure: I own one 2008 Rev of 2007 PCGS MS69FS....ironically bought from Russ!!!!

I still have 10 PCGS 1st strike 69's, One 1st strike PCGS70 and 1 NGC ER 70. I bought and sold a few here and there but have only made a few hundred on what I have sold.

I have not yet made up my mind on what to do with the other 12 that I have. They only run me short money as I got them from the mint for $25.95 apiece.

I retire this year so I just may start selling them off next year.

Of the 89 I got from the mint I only have two PCGS 0's and a raw one left. The rest are gone.

I have been selling one every couple of months. I have 12 NGC 70's (10 ER) and 4 NGC ER 69's left. Best "modern crap" I have purchased from the Mint

Not really, I sold my last 15 ngc ER 69's at or around 5ish I think, right before the prices dipped..I've had problems before with the dreded milk spots on some of my anniv. sets that I held...I do regret my early dump of 15 NGC 70's in and around $400 ea., just days before they hit $1K...Just when you think you have it all figured out...image It was a memorable time for sure...

I think they have leveled off where they are. The big lots have all disappeared. There should be a gradual increase in price as the economy improves but there will not be a decline as we have seen with some of the other coins. This is a winner.

<< <i>There is a good reason for the cheapest yet with a feedback rating of 91.7%. LOL

I would say around $475 is the market at the moment. >>

That's why I was surprised that I won one on Jeremy's
    Pancreatic Research Auction for $435.

The average sell price I saw before the auction was $395.
    Looks like I did okay.
