Wow, glad to hear it worked out well, these type of things usually don't.

    Good news for you.

I'll tell ya', if anyone came to my house at 555 maple between the hours of 8 A.M - 5:00 P.M when I am away and my house sits completely unprotected, and got at my vault sitting there unanchored in my basement closet -- I would be a wreck.

Good thing I am quiet about my gold and nobody knows I have any. image

Get a very heavy safe so your drunken brother won't be able to take your valuables so easily.

You should get the police involved with your POS brother. Some jail time might sober him up.

When I was in high school I had a complete set of BU silver Roosies in 2x2s that got ripped off. I think one of my brother's drug-addled friends stole the coins, took them out of the 2x2s and left the empty holders in the cabinet of my brother's bedroom to frame him. We never had proof, though.

I spent three years going to shows with my dad until I finally finished it. The '49-S cost me something like $12 which was big money for me around 1980 when I was 14. I remember being very fussy and passing on a lot of coins. That always bugged me a lot more than the financial loss.

How do you dare to leave gold coins laying on the table when you're away?

you can see! i fail to capitalize almost every word i am supposed to.

but that may have added to the red flavor. ;-)

Good that you got almost everything back, but its one of the worse situations when one's own family is the cause of the theft. Makes for a crappy situation despite getting the coins back.

It doesn't have to be heavy, just big enough to hold his brother.

Glad your story had a happy ending.

Too many folks know that I collect. When I talk coins with people I always manage to work into the conversation that all of my coins stay locked up in a safety deposit box in the bank.
