WTB: 90% Silver Coins and Silver Eagles

Looking to buy up to $5,000 in silver coins. The price paid will be based on the kitco price (at the close of the day on Friday which is about when I should receive the silver) X .65 so for example silver is $17.21 X .65 = $11.19 X Face. Silver Eagles I am paying spot - .50 cents. I will Paypal you 1/2 the total at the time of our agreement and send the rest Friday evening after the market closes and I have received the coins. This price includes all shipping and insurance. If you have any other questions please PM me.

Thanks

Frank

Dosent sound that bad to me.
I put my 90% silver coins on eBay, ended sunday 3/30 and got $16.54 a ounce and then had to pay eBay and paypal out of that image

hey Placid send me a link to your auctions...........image

  • yeah except for the fact he is multiplying by .65 instead of .715 which is standard in buying/selling of 90% so in his example of a $17.21 spot price instead of his figure of 11.19 times face it would be 12.3 times face. So he is being dishonest.

    He's NOT being dishonest.

He's posting out-right what he's willing to pay. Just because he wants to buy them cheaper than I can get them from my wholesaler doesn't mean he's being dishonest.

(He might be a little deluded that someone might take him up on it here though.)

I'd buy nice rolls of silver Eagles at that price too!

Prospective sellers should do some research and be aware of what their coins are worth before selling them.

    Still not dishonest.

He's telling you right up front he wants your coins at less than they're worth, but he's taking ALL of them and right now!

Again.....not very reasonable, but not dishonest.

He wants you to mail the coins to him and he'll pay you in relation to whatever spot is on Friday.

Both parties would be gambling on what spot silver does in the next few days.
  • eh I'll agree to disagree. I've lost interest in this I will get back in the saddle and ride off into the sunset now.

FWIW, he is most definitely not being dishonest. I agree with Ron, he is simply stating what he will pay for silver. He is not forcing anyone to do business. If you don't like his offer, move along. He can offer what he wants. Just like anyone selling something on the BST, they can ask a price they want. If you don't like a selling price of a coin, are you going to reply and post about how the seller is trying to "rape" someone. Odds are, you aren't, you'll just move on.

I want to know where to send all my silver so I can get .715 x spot. If you guys are getting all this info from coinflation or somewhere else, you have to realize that because the silver is not pure, it trades at a discount from what the actual silver content is.

I don't know I've never had a problem getting .715 when I have sold in the past. Only thing I didn't like was the way he matter of factly did the calculation in the post like that was fact. That is what its worth and the fact of the matter is it wasn't correct. "The price paid will be based on the kitco price (at the close of the day on Friday which is about when I should receive the silver) X .65 so for example silver is $17.21 X .65 = $11.19 X Face." Hell for all I know he may be a good guy but his math sucks image. But like I said I'm galloping away. image

This offer is not dishonest at all. The OP is clearly stating his buy prices, and you can accept or reject. Getting 11.1x when melt is 12.3x is not a TERRIBLE price. Its certainley not the best you can do, but I have been offered alot worse spreads in my life than 90% of melt value. If I created a WTB thread for PCGS slabbed bust dimes and offered to pay 90% of CDN bid, is that dishonest? This guy is laying out HIS terms, and even did an example calculation to show what he is offering. No foul.

It doesn't say he is paying spot, he is just giving a price based on spot.

Paul is right, and it's the point I've been trying to make.

He's quoting a price BASED on spot, using a multiplier that's less than 1, or less than spot.....or 0.50 under spot for Eagles.

  • Actually;

The number .715 is used for uncirculated 90% silver.
The number he is using is the number used for circulated 90% silver.

Take one of those nice shiny Franklin Halves in a proof set- Plop it on the digital scale and see what it weighs- Now compare that to a heavily circulated half dollar- Hence the variance in multiplier.

If someone does not like his prices than post a WTB and state the prices you are willing to pay.

actually shiny new silver coins have .72338 ounces per redbook, most places use .715 for circulated coins
  • I just had a big discussion on this just a second I will link it in...

Sorry Jason, but you are incorrect. .715 is the industry standard multiplier for CIRCULATED junk silver. I believe that .720 is unc junk.
