Am I being "too honest"?

Hope I don't scare everyone away with this description, but I don't want it coming back to me.

Seems like an honest, forthright description to me. I wonder how it was damaged??? What a shame.image

Thanks. I also wonder... These were part of my grandfather's collection that was sold at a Stack's auction in the late 1980's, after he died. A few coins came back, this was one of them. Surely because of this damage... Would be a really nice coin otherwise...

Looks to me as the most honest listing I have ever seen on eBay.
    Still a Nice looking coin!

Seems like one that I have coming online tonight. Got to be straight. Mine will BB as well.

Don't want them back is a good thing, yep!

well... maybe the coin looks different in real life but judging by the picture, this simply looks like a cud, and would not affect the value at all.

Nice coin otherwise... for people (and there are many) that are collecting commemoratives as a hobby (like me) and not an investment, it will be a good buy. Cheers, RickO

I believe that an accurate and honest description builds confidence in the seller and might actually enhance your chances of a better selling price.image

Looks like a cud to me -- I'd end the listing and have it graded at ANACS -- that is an expensive coin. If it is really a cud, you will get a grade, if it is not, you will get a details graded "problem" holder. Either way, it will probably sell for more --- much more if it is a no problem coin.

There is no such thing as too honest. You are either honest or deceptive. There are degrees of deception; only one degree of honesty.

I think the description is prefectly fine... might want to change "observe" to "obverse" though

    Correct.

And, straight-forward EBAY listings encourage buyers; discourage returns.

Damn image Hate when I do that... Was listing a bunch of stuff tonight, and typing too fast I guess. It's got bids, so I can't change it now... Thanks...

Very true. And it looks like an honest description to me.

Honesty like that is something desparately needed on eBay!

  • For you guys who knows these commemoratives - what would you grade this one if it didn't have the rim damage?
