What Dansco's are you working on?

bsshog40bsshog40 Posts: 3,970 ✭✭✭✭✭
I don't know if this topic has come up before. I'm curious as to how many of you have Dansco's, how complete are they, and what type are they. These numbers of mine would refer to date 2007. Here are mine:

Lincolns: I lack 23 coins to finish. I have 1934 to date completed. 92% complete
Buffalos: 65% complete.
Jeffersons: 64% complete
Roosevelts: 56% complete
Washingtons ((to 98'): 40% complete
Statehood Qtrs: 100% to date (no proofs)
Kennedy's : 21% complete
SBA's: 88% complete. Missing two, bet you can guess which two those are.
Sacs: 54% complete
SAE's: 100% complete
Prez Dollars: 100% complete to Date

    Dansco Albums:
7100 - Lincoln Cents 1909-date, no proofs - 94% (missing 15 coins, of which three are merely 2008 P&D, and 2002-D of all things)
    7166 - Kennedy Halves, 1964-date, no proofs - 100%
    7113 - Jefferson Nickels, 1938-date, no proofs - 62%

    Whitman Albums:
    9176 - Statehood Quarters (1 example/state) - current through end of 2007
    9139 - 20th Century Type Set - 100%

Albums I want to start at some point:
Franklin Halves, no proofs (medium grade, original circulated)
Washington Quarters, 1932-1998, no proofs (medium grade, original circulated)

Bust Halves (FH, DBH, CBH): 20%
    Bust Dimes: (DBD, CBD): 28%
    Barber Dimes: 88%

    Also slowly adding to these:
    Walker Halves: 50%
    IHC's: missing the 77 and 09-S
    V-Nickels: missing 85, 86, and 12-S

These seem like they would be quite the challenge.

The major one I'm working in is the ol' 7070. I need 1 coin to fill that puppy up. I'm looking for a 1873 seated dollar in XF. After that, I get to go back and upgrade the coins that I first bought for the book before I was focused on what I want the set to look like.

I'm also have the SAE book which is 100% complete and the Mercury dime book which is one short. Can ya guess which one I'm missing?

Finished: Lincoln Memorial with proofs, Roosevelt Dimes, Jefferson Nickels, Kennedy Half Dollars.

Up to date: Presidential Dollars (Have the coins for the state quarters, SBA's, and IKEs but haven't bought the albums yet.)

Working on 7070, Lincoln Cents 1909-1958 (missing about 16), Washington Quarters (mostly down to the 30's).

Seems like I am forgetting some but that is probably close.

That's why they make this little piece of equipment:

    image
  • Barber Halves, need 2 more, mostly full rim G-VG.
    Washington Quarters 1932-1964, need 5 more, all AU-MS, except the 32-D which is a 40 and the 32-S which is a 55.
Peace Dollars, 6 more to go, all AU-MS, except 34-S, which is a 40.
Mercury Dimes, the set I'll never finish, all AU-MS, except for the keys and semi keys, need 16 more.
And I'm always looking for upgrades to the registry sets.

Oh yeah, and I am working on a MS set of State Quarters, all in MS, in an Intercept Shield album.

full set of Lincolns..1909-1959 complete set was found in an old box ...set was put together in the late 50s , from change and my old coin dealer..hats off to his patience dealing with a little paper boy at the time ...the 1909s were purchased from the dealer..I hadn't seen the set for over 40 years

Why? It's probably the most collected coin in the world.

I'd guess that Lincolns, Morgans and State Quarters are the most collected series.

No Dansco albums at all. Two Capital Plastic boards. One AU Merc Set which I doubt will ever be finished and one Roosevelt set that has MS coins most with color in it.

I sure hope this generation of collectors is more carefull with the albums than past generations.

Indian and Eagle cents, down to the 09-S not counting the 69/69, and if the 77 is real, it's damaged on the date.
Lincoln 8100, down to the 09-S VDB not counting the 22 plain, though I have the most awful 09-S ever.
Buffalo nickels, down to 13 D and S type 2s not counting the overdate and three leg
State quarters 7143, P and D just taken from circulation. Took about three years to get the Missouri D!!
Franklin half set, given to me complete
Morgan dollar date set, only a 93 and 03 to go.
    Peace dollars, down to 28-P
    Eisenhower dollar set, given complete
Anthony dollars, probably missing just the 99 proof
7070 has been done for a while, but always upgrading!

I'm also working on Whitman blue folders of Liberty and Jefferson nickels, Mercury dimes, Standing Liberty quarters, silver Washington quarters, Walking Liberty halves 1937-47, and, finally, Kennedy halves put together at face.

I think that's just about it!
  • ad4400ad4400 Posts: 2,160 ✭✭✭✭✭
Buff Nicks - technically all I'm missing are the 21-S and 26-S (I don't count the 17/18 or three legger), but most of the MM dates from 1920 - 1925 are AG - G from my childhood collection, which I've been upgrading to AU. At the current pace of finding nice AU upgrades this will still take some number of years.

7070 - 48 slots filled or will be upon crack outs.

Walker short set - 75% done.

Statehood quarters. Current through 2007 w/ circulation finds

Mercury Dimes - hold over from childhood collecting and a few pickups when I started again as an adult. More or less on hold while I pursue the other interests.

I've often thought about the number of people on this board who do Dansco Album sets. Nothing says a set like a full album of matching coins.

Barber Quarters 25% complete (01-s VG8 anacs crackout). Goal is VG to VF 35.
    We're all born MS70. I'm about a Fine 15 right now.

The only book I have is the Dansco Lincoln 8100. Complete except for the 1922 No D Strong Reverse I need to buy. I got rid of all my other books and stacked my coins in tubes. I like my "type" boxes with the PCGS slabbed coins best. I hope they stop making the penny next year so I can "Finish" my book. I guess that I just like the look of a book full of Lincolns. I'm not much for date/MM sets as I spend lots of money for common coins. I think the real collecting is "Type Keys". Now if I only had some spending money...

  • 7100 Lincolns 1909-date no Proof - This was my grandfather's collection that I moved from old "stretchy" 2x2's which I hope to complete. He had 171, I've added 78 and upgraded a few, 3 to go plus 2008 (unless I decide to spring for the 22-plain)

7113 Jeffersons 1938-date no Proof - been slacking, still need 1990-date

7125 Roosies 1946-date no Proof - complete through 2000, need to update

    7140 Washies 1932-1998 no Proof - complete

All are circulated with a few MS mixed in. After the Lincolns are done I will start a 7070.

It sounds like everyone has some pretty good albums going. I don't know about you, but these kind of take on thier own little challenge around normal buying of coins. I'm always looking at slabbed Jeffs and SAE's and other things of sort and then occasionally I look up at my albums and think, I need to still fill some of those holes.
