Will it grade mint state? I need this date for my registry set.

Edit to add slab picture and the following: I totally agree with the opinions that the coin could go AU58. When I first looked at the coin that was my first impression. Hopefully it will do a little better than that if I do crack it out and send it in. The jury is still out on that. The coin was purchased with the thought that it could grade a point or two lower and I could live with that. Probably from now on I will only purchase these newer slabbed ANACS coins when I can see them in hand.

Thank You.
Ken

If it does not go mint state the very least it would do is 58 IMO. The above is a fair grade estimate. It could do better possibly. It is now in a ANACS slab at MS........ The luster is very very nice on the coin. Easily MS64 type luster but.....

I do not see any rub on the top to the wing, but that might be rub on the lower diagonal and lower bands.

I do not see any rub on the coin either. The photo makes the hair look real weak. It is somewhat weak anyway.

All of the stuff on the obverse is contact marks and there is a bunch of them. The reverse has a pretty large contact mark on the lower diagonal. The fields on both sides are clean with no broken luster. The check and neck area with all of the contact marks could sway a grader in the direction of AU I would think. In my mind the coin is a technical 60 to 63 with 62 being the real grade and possibly market graded at 63.

Any other opinions? Later, if it warrants, I will give the ANACS grade the coin received which I think is a little high for my standards.

I see it as an MS63 . Honestly, that was the first thought that popped into my head after examining the pictures.

  • Pretty coin- if there's no rub I'd go MS-62.

Thats the first thing I looked for. No hidden hairlines or hits under the tone. The fields are actually quite clean. Miss liberty did get in a cat fight.

I'd take 61 or 62. 61 could possibly make it a Pop1....image The number really doesn't matter much. I have found that 35D's are a little tough with color like this and thats why I went after the coin and probably paid too much.

The obverse has enough chatter on it along with what might be wear along the front edge of the hair so I would go with AU58.

It's a pretty coin, but enough scruff where it's hard to call. I'd say either 58 or 62, but I don't see the wear or subdued luster so I'll go for 62
