My Quarterly Special arrived at PCGS today. Was NGC 65RB. Sent in as a cross at same, PCGS didn't cross it and said it would have crossed at 64RB. I cracked it out and sent it in raw:
Sent three NGC coins for crossover at the Regular Service Level. Mailed on 08/18, arrived Newport Beach on 08/25, in the system on 08/26.
Has the color and lustre to 67 but the hit's on the reverse will put it in a 66 or 65 holder. Put cross at no lower than 65RB. PCGS has certified zero at 67, one at 66, and seven at 65.
Cross at same, 40/60 shot to cross IMO.
Paid way to much for the originality and color on this piece. Cross at same, shot 67, expecting 66.

Grades just posted this evening:
The 49-S crossed to 66RB (Now POP 2/0)
The 1864 crossed to 65RB (Now POP 262/11)
The Norfolk did not cross into a 66 holder.
I feel a little better now about my 26 Lincoln not grading.

That 15-S looks nice, IMO you should have no problems crossing that. It's a borderline 65 from the pictures. Having said that (and you know I'm a fan of your stuff), you should be happy that 49-S got in a 66 holder. No doubt it's gorgeous, but not a 66 (or a 67 NGC ) given the hits/dings on it IMHO.
The 26 is coming back in a BB, the 51-D is now a 65 RB and the 15-S is in a PCGS 64 BN holder! Not sure what I'll do with the 26 now. This is strike two on the coin, three if you consider my first attempt in the holder.

The lustre on the 49-S carried it into a 6 holder and it's 7 possible. I was concerned about the coin coming back in a 5 holder due to the reverse scratches, lustre again saved the day!
Not too shabby, I wasn't expecting these to be graded until next week, what with two holidays and all....
FYI, the ms $25 plat was purchased off ebay and came only in capsule, no box or COA and it still garnered a "70" which I did think it had a shot at!

Have a number of (12/30/08) economy and economy with attribution orders. Maybe they will be finished this week. I know I had a receive hold on one mid-process because they needed permission to crack a crossover candidate to do the attribution. Said the (economy) order was graded already. That was over a week ago.
Let me say this much about the coin grading turn around time ... it's fantastic. THE CURRENCY GRADING TURN AROUND SU_KS ... GOING ON 90 DAYS and everytime you say something, their response is: you should have used the more expensive tier... That is one link in the C.U. family, that needs major improvement in their turn around time....
"Bongo drive 1984 Lincoln that looks like old coin dug from ground."
Sent in one for cross-over at regular level. They recvd it 4/2 and I got the e-mail that it had graded yesterday 4/15.I thought that was fast considering the Easter holiday.

CU sold off the currency unit a few months back and it is no longer owned by them. It was a money losing endeavor that never grew revenue enough to rationalize a business model. PCGS Currency pays CU a fee to use the PCGS in their name and pays a fee to rent the offices.
