I got my all-time dream card - UPDATE - CARD IS HERE!

Guys,

I'll ask that we please put our differnces aside for a moment. Please celebrate with me on this. I just won my all-time dream card. A 1949 Bowman Jackie Robinson card. PSA 6.

I know I've been a clown lately, but please just put that aside temporarily, and celebrate with me.

Thanks man, I appreciate it! This has been a long time coming and I finally did it!

  • I know you put aside a few trades to concentrate on this. I wished you luck ... and it worked.

If i remember correctly, you had a $1000.00 budget for this. You did it !

    Congrats !

That's a sweet looking 6! Nice job. One question though, why do you refer him to Rackie? Every time I read that I think of the dog from the Jetson's cartoon.

Yes, I had about a grand saved up. And I remember that you wished me luck! I appreciate it! This is an incredible night for me. Very exciting addition. And the single-most expensive card I've ever purchased.

When I originally posted the "Need a Rackie Robonson" thread, it was a legitimate typo. It just kinda stuck after everyone was laughing at it. All in good fun image

And thanks man! I agree, it's a very nice looking 6! I'm super excited about it!

    Thanks for your reply man!

Thanks Storm! I appreciate your reply!
  • GREAT card....congrats!
  • WOW, 930 bucks!!!!!!

But its well spent because it looks very nice. How much should this card sell for? More or less? Just curious because I don't know much about vintage Baseball, so was just curious.

Congratulations, I was pulling for you to get it. What's next? My problem is I'll finally get something I want, and then I'll move on to something else. The chase is the fun part!

Hey Gio! Thanks man, The short answer is "I'll never sell this card"... VCP average is about $100.00 LESS than I paid... but I dont care. This is the nicest 6 I've ever seen, and I've been wathing every Jackie auction for months. It would most likely sell for less than I paid, but I'll never sell it. image

I already bought and sold my Musial PSA 5. I didnt like it's eye-appeal.

  • That is a really a nice Jackie Robinson. To get a card that you really want is just like being a kid again waiting for Christmas morning. Congradulations, gary.

Make sure you save some real money for your child as well. If we are in a recession in 20 years, it might be hard to move cardboard.

  • I don't know how I missed that you had a Musial. Good luck on the Paige. I prefer is 1953 Topps, but that would hardly fit into your 1949 Bowman collection.

  • << <i>That is a real nice card. Graded pre .5 scale too. Congrats!!! >>

Thanks a lot Downtown! I noticed the grading period too!

Might even be a good candadite for some .5 bumpage?!?!?!?!

I'm going to bed for now (10PM on the east coast and I have to work at 7), but thanks to all for celebrating with me, I really appreciate it!

    Have a great night!!!

Yup, I had it and sold it already. I had a post about it HERE and went with a private sale.

And I totally agre that his 53 is an awesome card! I like the later Jackie's too!

I just read the comments in blue on the back of that card. Its funny, I thought the wording was a bit choppy and not grammatically correct, and then I realized, they did not use the word "the" in any of the text. Take a look if you are as bored as I am.
