I'm hoping for an AU on this 1812 bust half??
Also, any confirmation on an O-105 or 105A........ Any opinions graciously accepted!!
Thanks,
Rick

I would think this is more of a high XF grade.
Practice makes perfect & nobody is perfect. So, practice being nobody.
The variety is O-105 (the fused dentils above the last 'A' in AMERICA on the reverse is the diagnostic). I can't tell if the die breaks are there for O-105a. If the photo is accurate, then I think you have a coin that has been cleaned (or more likely over-dipped) a while back and has retoned. There appears to be some luster in protected areas and the detail is there for an AU, but the surfaces look wrong. Also, there are too many deep hits on the obverse in the prime focal area to allow for an AU grade with the other issues with the surface. Of course, if the image is off, then I am not sure about the surfaces, other than the hits.

AU ? Don't think so.
Just noticed the marks in front of her nose also.

In hand, I can tell there is quite a bit of luster in the fields hiding under the toning. I agree the surfaces look wrong, I can't tell for sure what it is but the toning looks "off" if you know what I mean.

There do seem to be some significant hits on the upper cheek and in front of the neck.............

There appears to be rim damage on the reverse above the "ES" in STATES and the "O" in OF, but actually it's an over-punched "CENTS" on the rim, bleeding into the dentils.
The more I'm looking at this coin, the more I'm thinking that a very quick dip (maybe 3-5 seconds) in E-Z-EST might improve the look of this coin. What say you?? I'm all ready to do it, and I'll post the results.........
Should I?? And, what have I got to lose except for some strange surface toning.........?? I'm thinking this one will look great all nice and shiney!!

Leave it be, it is already a dipped out net XF coin, don't make it an eyesore.
Ok, I agree.. I'll leave this one be........... it looks great in the Dansco, and why mess with a good thing??
BTW, how do you whiz a coin??
Just kidding,
Thanks for the input!!

If the "color" is accurate this piece looks to have had some serious boinking going on in it's poor life.
