  • Ya, we need to send your wife over here for a little training!!!! That makes me a bit jealous to say the least!!! When mine finds out how much I spent on a coin, she has to go spend 2x as much of crap for her closet!!!!

  • AR stands for assult rifle, correct?
  • My wife 'spot checked' one of my coin purchases once.

Back in 2004 she took a $10 gold piece that I had bought back in 1999 for $1,000 and went with me to a large coin show in the region. She brought it over to a dealer (who had a large amount of similar gold in his case) and asked for an estimate of how much she could get for it. When he quoted her $1,700, she hasn't questioned a coin purchase of mine ever since.

Jim's wife must have a similar view of coin value retention versus an AR-15!

Mines very understanding, for Christmas she ordered me a custom stock for F class shooting, four our anniversary she just bought me a mint 20 ga. Beretta BL4 for bird hunting. Of course just before Christmas she got a new table for her quilting, at $3k I still have some catching up to do.

I have had one for years. I love it. By the way, my wife would side on coins over guns any day.

  • 1k for a bushmaster, should be more like 700-800, what set up is it in. I buy colt Colt 6920's for $1050, locally no FFL here.

My wife told me something similar when I told her I wanted to buy a SOCOM 16 .308 for $1500! She doesn't bat an eye when I spend $2000-3000 on collectible currency, but everytime I try to buy another firearm she says I have too many! Lately I've had to sell a gun from my collection any time I want to buy a new one image

with a tac trigger or what ever those crappy cranks are called, what a waste of ammo.

Gotta love those rm chair commandos.

  • I refuse to have a gun in my house as long as we live in the FOID infested, Peoples Republic of Illinois. My guns are are still in Kentucky and hopefull before long we will be too. But I don't have anything fancy like someone on here I won't mention .. his guns are real you suck guns.. I am more pratical... Belguim Brown .22, pre 1964 Winchester lever action rifle, Remington 1100 - 20 guage and 870 - 12 guage. As for coins after an 11 month suspension of purchases to preserve the peace in my house.. I got the green light to buy again this week image (might have something to do with my new hobby of fly fishing.. and my wife seeing the price of a bamboo fly rod)

My P-89 Ruger is a 9 mil. It's my favorite handgun by far. The P-95 is a close second.

If I told the GF I was going to buy a new assault rifle, she'd tell me to buy two. One for her.

If I said I was buying an expensive coin, she'd tell me to buy gold bullion instead.

She loves the feel of gold bullion, even more than gold jewelry.

One night my wife looked over and saw me browsing around this place...

She told me: "You are such a nerd! It's Friday night and you are talking about coins online."

"Hey!" I said. "It could be worse - would you rather I be in here looking at porn?"

Without missing a beat, my wife just smirked and said "Heh - that'd be cheeper."

I'd probably hear the same if I suggested I might spend $1000 on liquor and prostitutes. Hmm, a hangover and crabs or a pretty piece of metal the next morning.....

Smart move pendragonimage Jim, ya gotta go with the Colt for that kind of money, of course depends on what "extras" come with itimage, but Bushmasters can be had for around $800 around here also. Missed the chance for a match grade colt once for $1k, of course that was in 94 imageimageimageimage
AR=assault rifleimageimage you can tell the guys who know nothing about firearms. They're usually the ones vehemently against themimage and they're usually against them because of some propaganda they read or heard from the "driveby media"

Outstanding thread, two of my favorite subjects - guns and coins. I have more pistols than rifles and shotguns, but unless you took an inventory it would not be obvious. I like my .45's mainly, but .44 Mag revolvers are also great fun on the range. I have over 330 hours training with LFI which not only covers shooting, but the law as well. I train with police and even some lawyers. Then to relax, I have my coins.... great life... image... Oh yeah, the wife likes both. Cheers, RickO
