I'm actually not going this year. I actually have something bigger planned. Now you're probably wondering what's bigger than Summer Seminar?
Well, I've signed up for a Study Abroad program to Easter Island for all of June. I really didn't think that I would like to come home from that and need to go fly out the next day to Colorado for week 2. I'm also putting all my eggs in one basket here because I don't know if I'm going there yet, but I hope I can.
Sorry to dissappoint all those people from these boards that I've met from years past there, but this is slightly more important to me.
I'll be there teaching an evening mini-seminar on minting errors, but not sure how the daytime schedule will pan out. I think I may be giving an evening talk or bull session (whatever they are called now) on gold, silver, and the Wizard of Oz.
Hey Cameron...what to do another evening talk on collecting slabs?

In keeping with tradition, I will not be attending Summer Seminar but I will probably attend the Colorado Springs Coin Show that abuts both one of the sessions.

I'll be teaching first session with my friend Erik Goldstein, the curator for numismatics and mechanical arts at Colonial Williamsburg. Our class will basicly discuss everything that's NOT in the Redbook yet is still relevant to colonial America -- foreign coins, historical medals, paper money, fiscal paper, military medals, economic history, collecting theory, etc.
Andy -- I'm delighted you'll be in my mini-seminar! You better behave and take good notes. You don't want to fail the final.
Since I'm teaching a mini-seminar, it means I get to actually TAKE a class for the first time since I was a teenager. I have no idea what to take, but I'm considering the Mexican class (which has a well-informed and enthusiastic instructor who is a natural in front of a class), the digital photography class, or Njcoincrank's class on problem coins.
Coincrank -- I never took basic grading. Will you give me a waiver?
For those of you who have never attended, Summer Seminar makes my numismatic year. It's a treat.
I am contemplating giving a bull session presentation on Ancient Judaea and its coins, complete with a display of three centuries of sample coinage of those times.
I'll bring all of my boards and setup somewhere...

I'll be registering tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully, I'll bump into a few of you. I'll try to remember to put my alias on my name tag....can you guys do the same?
Have fun for all that are going, especially you YN's out there. Take advantage of everything, stop by Hallenbeck's between your class, and make sure to go to the coin show.
Wish I could be there this year, but I'll try for next year if work doesn't take over my life

Lane - I believe the last numismatist to give a talk on that subject was Walter Breen. It's nice to see you following in his footsteps. >>
Eeeewe...those are weird footsteps in which to follow!
Well, I checked the schedule and it looks like I am not giving the talk...oh, well. I did give it to the Denver club (DAWN) earlier this year and it was a blast! What a great group of collectors!
Ryan and I are still teaching the Minting Misadventures evening seminar during week two. See you all there.

I'll be there for session 2 (2nd year) of "Art of Engraving". I may make it to the coin show on Saturday AM as well. There will be an exhibit & reception for the artists in the class on Sunday June 29, 4:00-5:30PM. It will be held in the Worner Center Coburn Gallery near the dining hall.
One more week to go and I'm already tired! Well, that's what caffeine is for! Heading to the coin show today with Doug to take down the ANA Exhibit and to see the deals! I wish you all were here as it's great to see and speak "Numismatist" for several weeks. :-) Robin

I'll also be doing a talk on patterns, as well as participating in the infamous "Lie, Cheat & Steal" panel discussion.
