  • I was looking at this coin, I like it. yea i think it may get a cam designation....

Judging from the ebay picture, yes.... do not know if it has been 'enhanced'... Cheers, RickO
  • The pictures would get a CAM designation. I cannot say how the coin will look in hand, however.

I know Jeff's standards, and if he promotes it as DCAM or CAM, that's what you'll get. Only one catch though- it's probably been tried at least once already for a shot at 67/68 at one of the top tier TPG's.

So you mean it probably isn't a 67?

Usually folks point out that this particular seller has a way of shooting photos to make coins look cam when they are not. My guess would be that if that coin really looked like how it looks in that photo, it would be in a top tier slab by now.

I believe the seller is experienced enough in this arena to have maximized the value of this coin, which in this case appears to be what you paid. Regardless, I would have a very hard time convincing myself to bid on a lot where there is a 5% restocking fee or minimum $10 return fee.

STOP YELLING AT ME MR. EBAY COIN SELLER!!!

    This really bothers me:

***Q: Is this coin a possible deep cameo? Dec-30-07
A: If it were a deep cameo, the price would be $3000! ***

I wish you the best of luck, Joe.

Glad seller has a 7 day return policy....re-stock fee kinda sucks!!!

If you decide to keep it, will you send it off for slabbing??

    Happy New Year!!!!!!

joethecoinman: Pease keep us advised on the grade if you keep it and send it off to ngc/pcgs. Seems to me that this seller "enhances" his photos. Cam/DCAM is hard to judge without the coin in hand. IMHO, $149 for a raw 1959 is a bit steep, with his return policy. Good luck. image

One more thing Joe....did you notice there was only one bidder??? image

edited to say...I just read Lee's post....that speaks volumes.

Sheesh, you'd think this seller's 5025 positive feedbacks to just 5 negatives would earn him a little more benefit of the doubt.

I had good experiences with him.

No. I merely stated that it has probably been tried at least once for 67 or higher. That doesn't necessarily mean that it won't end up in a 67 or higher holder at some point.

a Cameo 59 Frankie is a very very tough find...

and surely this 'seller' would have such a piece graded, as the value would sky rocket...

  • Buying a raw coin on ebay and then asking other's opinions strikes me as the wrong sequence.

Good luck. Hope it works out for you.

I bought a 60 nickel from him once. He stated it was a nice cameo in the description and it was. But in the picture it looked like an Ultra deep Cameo, It wasn't.

I don't think the coin will Cameo!

A couple years back, I made the mistake of buying this set from this seller.

    image

None of the coins were cameo. None.

I suspect he uses Marty's lampshade photographic technique to shoot these. Besides if the coin were truley an MS67 Cameo, he'd of had it graded and sold it for a lot more than $149!

    Think I'm kidding?

Whats the start on this NGC MS67?
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

If you have not already paid you might want to consider not completing the transaction.

  • Had a email conversation with this guy back a few years ago - same thing regarding his picks- his return comment was I'm a PRO- what do you think?

The pic was a very juiced up 56 T1 Frankie- look wise- it could have been a solid 8dcam- but the reality was/is- the pic was definitely not the same as the coin- yes I returned it at full price and the transaction never made it to his feedback- you ask why- I would have negged him for doctoring the coin- it was enhanced, and you could smell it.

Think about what you buy from this guy- looks/pics are very deceiving.

Pics look juiced to the max, obverse kinda looks as it may have seen a mild wipe?

It's 2008 and this coin would be entombed if it was as the seller stated, as there's just no free lunch getting a raw coin at 1/3... unless there's an issue!
