Are still a value in my mind. The majority of coins in all my set's are purchased primarily based on "Eye Appeal". The term is very subjective so varies from collector to collector. As it should be. I'm not stuck on the grade of a coin, but it's "Eye Appeal". Let's see some AU55's:

Looks like a series of parallel scratches on the holder to me.

Looks like the flexible ring overlapping the rim.

Yup.
<< <i>If all AU55's looked like those...they'd be a hell of a value! Looks like you have an excellent eye for AU coins with exceptional eye appeal...and looks like you've been in the right places at the right time to pick 'em up before they disappear. Especially if you paid anything less than MS60 for any of those. Congratulations. >>
Appreciate it. As far as pricing go's: Done well on the 20C but not so good on the Classic Commem's. Prices have been stagnant for quite a while now. Price is important to me, but only one piece of the pie.
The name is LEE!
I had been looking in the MS range for this IHC for my type set, but I liked the 55 price tag a whole lot better

It is also correctly graded by PCGS. A nice AU55 $5 gold piece.

Can you collectors out there usually tell the difference between an AU55 and AU58? Seems like a very difficult task.

In a word, No.
I can't anyway.

Sure, the AU58 will be in a MS62 holder.
