Yes, it's called Interstate Fraud.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

The coin isn't listed in the wrong category. It's not like the buyer happened upon a mis-labeled auction and could potentially get a steal.
Listed in category: Coins & Paper Money > Coins: US > Dollars > Morgan (1878-1921) > 1878-84
Nobody's ever heard of "WCG" grading company before. EBay even has brief one-page, easy-to-understand, easy-to-find, and free guides to buying Morgan dollars--not tucked away somewhere but right on the category listing for Morgan dollars--that say things like:
"Be careful of all "Slabbed" graded coins which are not PGCS, NGC or ANACS . If you see a coin graded by a service you don't know about, make sure the dealer offers money back! If it seems too good to be true, it usually is."
and
"All other services are ridiculously overgraded, or just totally unreliable for purchase".
This coin does not have an accidental BIN low price. The auction's not closing at 4:00 am on a Sunday.
The seller's feedback is obviously shilled up, and even so there are negatives accusing the seller of having overgraded coins.
So with all of these red flags, a picture that clearly shows the coin is a PoS, why is everyone getting all worked up? This buyer hasn't been deceived. They aren't buying a fake coin from a stolen picture. Their problem is that they aren't even bothering to acquaint themselves with the the most rudimentary fundamentals of coin buying. One thing they apparently understand, though, is greed. Boy oh boy, they're going to get a deal of a lifetime. A $100,000 coin for a few hundred bucks.
Screw them. The world needs ditch diggers.

WCG was pretty prolific and a lot of people on eBay and some message boards have heard of them but it seems no one knows the owners, graders, etc.
At least eBay has taken a stand in the listings area.

<< <i>before I came more informed, I won an auction on ebay with a WCG slab (1883CC Morgan) - must say that there grading is very liberal and I would NOT even go there now, although the coin I won I sent in to PCGS and it came back MS64 - they had it in a MS 67 DMPL slab - not even close - lesson learned!! buyer beware!! >>
Actually, you can consider yourself damned lucky it ended up in a PCGS 64 slab.... most WCG coins would bodybag.

Do you have a before (WCG) and after (PCGS) pics of the coin- it would definitely have some merit to your statement.

sorry I dont - I broke out the coin in the WCG slab and sent it raw to PCGS - wanted to see just how it would grade - knew it wasnt a 67 DMPL - but thought it had a good possibility of grading MS64/65.

Did anybody scan the barcode and check the pops on this coin? Might be rarer than you think !!! :-)

If you are dumb enough to bid I have no pity for ya.
There is plenty of info out there via the web, and plenty of books on the Morgan series.
I agree the seller is slime as Russ pointed out, and knows damn well it's a whizzed/buffed POS.
Just noticed the Power Seller status, exempt from ethical selling.
Nothing more than a $12 cull.
