Wow...you guys have cleeeeeeeean desks.... (sign of a sick mind - as the saying goes)... mine does not deserve a picture... but at least I know where everything is (somewhere on my desk) Cheers, RickO
I’m not sure what my desk looks like. There’s a small bare spot under the computer monitor that appears to be mahogany or rosewood, but the dust obscures part of the color. The balance of the desk (or whatever is holding up stuff) has stacks of archive copies, books, file folders, and binders filled with NARA copies and transcriptions. The overall impression is what you might have had from your college professor’s campus office. The bookcases are filled with books ranging from astronomy to religion to numismatics to history; plus the sections on music and psychiatry from grad school.
The overall clutter is the result of a decision made when my wife and I built the house: either put in a nice brick front walk or install built-in bookcases in my office. Guess which option won…. (I thought the mud and gravel path looked rustic – she disagreed.)
desk? what desk? you mean the laptop on the coffee table stacked with so much stuff there's no room to set down a drink?..
i used to have a dining table too..
yes, that's all Silver that was literally socked away (see the sock?).. for decades.. tell ya the story some time if anyone cares..

that desk.. uhh.. area.. uhh.. landfill has some character to it.. not like all these Martha Stewart Living pictures.. "eeek! There's a magazine on that table and we have guests coming over!"..

This is where I spend many hours every day. I still need to sand and finish the monitor/speaker platform I made. It puts the monitor at just the right height and conveniently leaves room for several boxes of coins underneath. The copystand is on the left with 2 of my 4 lamps clamped on to bookshelves. My printer is on the right. The network router and receiver is under the desk, I can adjust the music volume with my right toe.
It looks like every office so far has one thing in common...clutter.

Well, my desk isn't that clean either. Whenever I decide, in one of the few bright moments I have once in a while to clean it up, I'm always amazed by the size of the thing. That normally stops after 2 hours when it's the same mess again.
How it looks most of the time now..And yes that is a little blanket on the window . Haven't gotten around to putting up blinds on the window since I moved my desk and in the afternoon the sun shines directly in the window.

I like it. Before and after's. Good idea. You got some accent paint on the walls.Looks much better
Thanks; the only reason it's reasonably neat is because the cable guy had to come over the other day to fix my internet connection. It's usually a mess -Preussen

The first pic is from last year. Part of my bottle collection can be seen at lower right. The second pic is from last night. There is another table, with nothing on it, where I work on the albums. There's a closet where I keep the coin supplies & reference materials, etc.

I wish I had a desk to call my own. In our cramped, too-small singlewide mobile home, I'm forced to share part of the kitchen table, which gets piled high with my wife and daughter's projects, not to mention the occasional meal.
It isn't a pretty sight.
(Yeah, we're "trailer trash", and from Georgia, to boot. If Jeff Foxworthy did comedic routines with a numismatic twist, he'd probably describe my setup.)
It's smoewhere in between what hrlaser posted, and what Utahcoin posted. (Very similar to what hrlaser posted, in fact... but messier. Not quite as bad as Utahcoin's pic.)
This is not a picture of the table, but of one of the benches alongside it. Our kitchen table has picnic-table style benches, though they aren't attached.
They're frequently occupied by one or more of our beasties.

You should have seen it a month ago. There was literally 2 years worth of clutter stacked up.
Hoard the keys.
You guys have what my set-up needs, ROOM to spread out! I have a 4'x3' desk with monitor stand, phone, etc on it. Just doesn't work well.
