Honorable mention for the best poofed commedy thread: BongoBongo...."as he hurtles along the rain sodden highway of life on underinflated bald retread tires in his 1984 Lincoln that looks like old coin dug from ground" Most laughs in a single night & the Monkey & Ape pictures were out of sight.
On a more serious note: Lot 403 has my vote.
"Bongo drive 1984 Lincoln that looks like old coin dug from ground."
Certainly the two best series of threads were LeeG's Commems, and the Capped Bust half dollar threads. As for individual threads, I do not have a particular favorite, as I think there have been so many great threads. My preference is for educational threads that are well researched and well illustrated. I also like threads that draw in as many participants as possible without turning negative. To that end, the "Great Toner Post" and "Post a New Barber Image" threads, as well as the "Infamous Coin Uno" thread deserve honorable mention.
Another vote for Lot 403 here. That one just really got to me.
It actually makes me feel like the evolution of the Grinch. It's easy to get cynical about numismatics with the slabbing games and the eBay scams and the ripoff artists and all that, but in the end, something golden happens to remind you what the spirit of numismatics is really all about, makes you all warm inside, and renews your sense of pride and joy in the hobby.

We're just taking nominations now, and the nominated threads will be posted in a poll for a vote on Jan 1 (assuming that all goes according to plan). But feel free to lobby for your favorite in the meanwhile.
<< <i>There are so many but with I agree with "SomeGuyFromMichigan" This thread this year helped me more then I could have ever expected, I learned a lot from this thread.... many times this year. Thanks
I liked the Dogs or Cats thread. People plowed right into that one tootsuite and filled up pages upon pages with cool pix of Scouts and Fluffys. We're all suckers for fur.
We're all born MS70. I'm about a Fine 15 right now.
Darth5oh's "Recently Acquired Coin Collection" and sequel were my favorites. The story was compelling, with a bit of controversy, and the photos were awesome.
"1805- the latest in an occasional series on draped bust halves", started by slumlord98 (July 2007), in the spirit of the great Bust threads continuing from previous years. I love threads like these that get people to contribute examples from their own collections of the different varieties, and teach us the diagnostics and rarities.
"Finished my draped bust type set", by fishteeth (June 2007) is a great example of the private-collection or personal-milestone post that provides lots of teaching value.
That's just a few to add the great ones already suggested. So many to be found around here!
Entertaining Thread Nomination:
Has to be Darth5oh and his brother's "Recently Acquired Coin Collection". I kept coming back to that one for updates. (He asked that the original thread be deleted, and now we only have the sequel in the archives, "The Return". He redacted Part One to a Geocities page here.)
P.S.: Can smoeone please nominate me for admission into the secret club of How-to-code-the-little-TM?

Complete Series of Draped Bust and Lettered Edge Capped Bust Half Dollars >>
I also vote for the Bust Half Dollar Series linked here. There were 150 CU members that contributed to this Bust Half Dollar Series.
Why not do a poll listing people's responses???
Educational Thread Nominations:
"Master List: Your Favorite Coin Websites", started by Stone (Sept 2007), gets a lot of people involved and provides a great service to a broad range of board members.

"Barber half question: after the micro O, what date has the lowest population total at PCGS?", started by InYHWHWetrust (July 2007). A great bit of esoterica that was eye-opening for new Barber Halves collectors, with relevance way beyond the thread title.
"Finished my draped bust type set", by fishteeth (June 2007) is a great example of the private-collection or personal-milestone post that provides lots of teaching value.

Currently not a great thread, but it certainly has potential. Thought I would get it nominated before it was too late.
