The new presidental eagle mint set!

Will these new sets with presidents and silver eagle be a hit,I'm just wondering if this was just something the mint put together to get rid of whats left in thier inventory for a fast sell,or maybe not ,anyways for $32 it does sound like a small investment, who else is getting one too!imageimage

  • I quit buying proof sets after they removed the silver.

Other than a few examples, the bulk of them are simply worthless washers to me.

They may be coins, but they aren't real money.

Call me old fashioned. I don't mind a bit.

Several years ago on the Bay, a seller had over 100 assorted sets with choice coins cut out, one or two in each set and they were listed as pre-1965.

The price was too good and I BIN'ed it.

Upon receipt, they went up through 1985 and I emailed him about a return.

He offered a 65% cash return if I would keep them instead. Apparently he thought like me.

Nah! i won't be buying any.

I'll pass. This is exciting as offering bread by the single slice, or 2 slices, or a half-loaf, or a whole loaf, or 2 loaves, or a case.

For the really resistant buyers, a ham sandwich, peanut butter & jelly, egg salad, pastrami, or whatever.

Still not interested? How about a sandwich, soda or coffee, and a bag of chips.

Nothing unique at all in the offer... not worth the investment. Cheers, RickO

If this happens to be the last year of the SAC image these sets will be prized down the road.

Isn't it the only way a individual collector can get a Silver Eagle directly from the mint? And for the first time I think?

    does anyone know ?

do the dollar coins in the new Presidential sets being sold by the mint come with the "satin finsh" or business strike
  • SF on the Dollars is what I heard.
  • I posted a thread on this last week, and alot of board members responded that they are buying one or more.
I did purchase one. I think it's a neat set. There was some debate as to whether the Silver Eagle has the W
mint mark. According to Coin World, it does.

I agree, there is nothing uncommon about them, but I did purchase a couple. West point SAE, satin finish dollars - and the nicest ones I've seen yet, especially the Sacagawea. I received mine last Friday. I'm not sure what, but there is something about this little set that is appealing.

It has been verified by some board members here who have received them that the eagle is a "W' mint mark!......I like these sets!

I'll post the pictures again for those that missed the other post. Yes the Dollar has the "W" Mintmark, it is Burnished the same as the others for sale by the mint, the Sac is Denver Mint and the Prz Bucks are Philly Mint, all have the Satin Finish.
