I think it depends on how well the Reverse Proof grades. Since I think it will grade well, with 3 or 4 sets you should do good. I agree the 10th anniversary PR70DCAM will be a tough one, though IMO the First StrikeSM 10th anniversary PR69DCAM will also be sought after by collectors that opened the box and are looking to put together a PCGS graded set and the PR70DCAM going for big money. >>
i thought pcgs was NOT giving FS to the proof, only the enhanced RProof?

Per updated guidelines, both coins are now eligible for the First StrikeSM - 10th anniversary insert as long as submitted in a sealed box.
Never teach a pig to sing. You'll waste your time and annoy the pig
<< <i>won't they both be the same coin with 10th anniv on them >>
Once the box is opened, the PRDCAM no longer qualifies for the 10th anniversary designation, which is why I think the 10th anniversary designated PR69DCAM coin will be sought after by collectors looking for a graded set that opened the box and will trade for a small premium over the non-anniversary designated Proof coin.
Never teach a pig to sing. You'll waste your time and annoy the pig
<< <i>how much different will the insert be from this?

That coin won't get you registry points for a 10th anniversary set, though that coin might have a lower 70 population than the 10th anniversary Proof DCAM given it is likely more 10th anniversary First StrikeSM sets will be submitted than the original First StrikeSM platinum Proof.

Well, my set should be here in the a.m., but the other sets I bought fedex track stops info after pickup in memphis yesterday at 2:12 a.m., I'm wondering if the weather is causing problems, its very windy in MI, I took out the garbage and it poof it blew away....just gone....
<< <i>I'm sending mine back after look at them. $100+ for grading and $450+ premium over spot and the rush to play musical chairs with 1,000's of these coins for a chance at a 70 grade...no thanks.
After I saw the 14,000 mintage this week these will be melt soon.
I just shipped my set off to PCGS they said Thursday. Maybe they could give me the grades by friday night.lol I hope :< It was 28.25 shipping + 109.75 for PCGS fees. I should be a mailer.
I think you will see a lot like that on ebay even if it was a one day auction.
My first set went off to PCGS Today 2 X $30 regular submission fee 2 X $15 for First Strike/Anniversary Designation with True View Photo Return Shipping $22.75 Shipping to PCGS by registered mail $20.95 $2.00 return shipping fee for OGP $5.00 handling Fee Total $140.70
Dang, I just checked the Mint site and my order is in stock and reserved, and the cancel button is gone. Here hoping they cut the sales off (like that is going to happen)!

***Newport Beach, California - The Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) has announced an important new service to help sellers market their coins and assist proud collectors display theirs: the PCGS TrueViewSM Photo Service. The service was unveiled at the American Numismatic Association World's Fair of Money® convention in San Francisco on July 27, 2005. "Auction firms, dealers and individual collectors now can obtain high-resolution digital images of the coins they submit to PCGS. To ensure the best possible image, PCGS' professional staff will photograph the coins before they've been encapsulated," said Ron Guth, Director of Numismatic Research of PCGS, a division of Collectors Universe, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLCT) of Newport Beach, California. Fees for the new service are as low as $5 per coin in addition to applicable certification fees.***
I read somewhere that thr country that produces the most platinum is laying off workers because the metal is not producing is it costing more than they are mining at this point. So on that note Platinum is be worth more in the coming months? This is according to SKee Daddy, Jim Cramer. Good Luck
for sure I'll let you all know if they accomadate, I mailed it yesterday so they should get it Thursday, which I don't think would be a problem if they are awaiting the package.
<< <i> If you can hold ten years the better off you will be. By then spot may have reached your $500 premium you are paying on these. >>
Can you name even one person here or anywhere else who is buying these based on their bullion value? Yes they are technically platinum bullion, but they aren't quite the same as a platinum bar or planchet. This is artistic bullion. It has a date and is part of a series and is therefore collectible. Saints are basically bullion too, but I don't see 65s or 66s selling for melt. The 1933 saint is the same bullin coin as the most common 62s, but find me anyone who would sell me one for spot price. As I said before too the mint doesn't work for free. The metals and plastic and other components in an automobile are probably worth a few hundred dollars in the commodity market, but try to find anyone to sell one to you at twice commodity pricing. Do you think GM would sell cars at $50 over cost? Mind you they would still be making a profit at ANYTHING over cost. You want bullion go to Engelhard or Johnson-Matthey. >>
I'm gonna be buying mine based on bullion value. Shouldn't be too long in my opinion. Too many sets sold. To many amateur flippers that will get nervous and dump early for bullion prices. I know quite a few hardcore plat collectors like myself who are just waiting for "Get Rich Quick Flippers" who jumped on this issue to bail out at a loss.
In 4 months ( way after the 30-day return period ) is over, I can see these going under spot value. When put up alongside a 1997 - 2003 regular BU bullion strike coin that reverse proof will look really ordinary.
If it looks like bullion, it will sell like bullion.
Plats sell at a rediculous premium just as bullion, many wholesalers charging 8-10% over spot. 5-6% over is a good gauge for selling as bullion. $1590 currently with the juice.
Capitalize on the 70's early. I believe we have another holder rarity in the making - not in the RP but the Reg Issue 70 DCAM Anniv Set FS label.
Would I spend stupid money to get one? NO.
Would I want to make one at PCGS and sell it? YES.
<< <i>for sure I'll let you all know if they accomadate, I mailed it yesterday so they should get it Thursday, which I don't think would be a problem if they are awaiting the package. >>
Not sure why anyone thinks that PCGS should be awaiting the package, unless the plat submitters smoehow seem to think that their submissions will be moved to the head of the line; the term "awaiting" being interpreted to mean with some sort of eager anticipation as opposed to its just another freakin package.
Kitco advertises a sell price of $1657.88 for a 1 oz Platinum Eagle. This is $129.88 over spot - a nice little premium indeed.
Now if you click on the "Sell to Kitco " tab, you will see the price Kitco will gladly pay to you. If you want to sell a 1 oz Platinum Eagle to them - they will gladly pay $1487.00 to you. That is $41.00 UNDER Spot. Or $140.88 less than their sell price. Do metals dealers sell " at a rediculous premium just as bullion " ? Without a doubt.
Do Collectors pay ridiculous premiums for Coins on eBay? Without a doubt - sometimes. Will they pay a ridiculous premium for a Coin being dumped en masse on eBay? Very doubtful - some buyers may well hold out for Kitco-like buy prices - prices just a bit under spot.
Wrap that same Coin in plastic and it surely will interest more buyers.

I'd guess regular service. I doubt that you have enought to submit bulk.

What do you think would happen to the interest in such a set if the Mint was to submit 1,000 to 5,000 of the sets to PCGS?

Bulk will work....but 'Regular Service" is probably more appropriate.
I remember my case of 10pc. 2006 Eagle sets was marked as Bulk.
Even if you forget....PCGS customer service employees are keying on these plat sets for sure.
Good luck to all PCGS submitters.

I think the Mint should have made a $100 coin instead of making people buy 2 $50's. A bigger coin would look better.
