What ever happened to the artist Boggs (sp) that produced his own paper money and plastic coins?

I remember watching a TV show about him. He produced his versions of his own currency. They were considered art and were highly sought after. On the TV show he walked into a Harley Davidson motorcycle store and traded the bills he had made for a brand new Harley!! The Harley cost around $170 in Boggs bucks if memory serves me right.
Later Boggs started making plastic boggs coins and traded some Bogg's coins to a well known dealer at a major coin show for gold coins. That story made the front page of CoinWorld magizine a few years back. I know he had huge legal troubles with the US goverment over conterfieting his own money, but all he was doing was trading his bills for merchandise.
What ever became of Boggs?

I for one would gladly accept Boggs' bills at a par with US paper money, at least up to the $50 denomination or so. (The hand-drawn originals, I mean.)
Not so sure about plastic Boggs coins, though.
I found this article about him on the web and there are more...

but nothing current.

A master draftsman/speed addict! That's an American modern art cliche!
But like I said, I would take Boggs' bills at up to $50 face (maybe $100), for an original.
He can keep the plastic coins. I hadn't heard about them.
If it is true that he's in a Florida jail on meth charges, it's a sad and unfortunate development.
I always like the way he bucked the system. The "Man" came down on him pretty hard for it though.
Will Boggs forge prison scrip when he lands in the Bighouse?
I'll bet they take his crayons away from him if he does.

That is sad to hear.
I did my own "Boggs" bill once. One summer back in 1981 I got some ball-point pens and went to work (I've come a ways since then):

<< <i>What a miserable waste it is to jail people for this nonsense.
Seems like anyone creating "money" that has some actual value put in the making of it (like the Liberty Dollar) is a target of the government.
