Dime, FAKE or REAL?

AUandAGAUandAG Posts: 24,806 ✭✭✭✭✭
I'd say it is fake, what say you? This is not my series but I'd say the reverse is from 1814 not 1833.
Are there a lot of dime fakes on ebay from China? Elsewhere? Hmmmmm,
bob
Oh, and is shipping a bit high?

obvious fake. This Chinese crook has had many ebay identities but uses the same gibberish to describe his fakes.

I do not care if the images are of a legit coin. Best bet is to assume that any coin hailing from China is bogus. Apologies to the one or maybe two sellers of legit coins.

I can't tell from the picture if the coin shown is good or bad.

That said, why would anybody buy anything from China? The country has absolutely no ethic that says that cheating foreigners is wrong.

  • I wouldn't touch that auction with a 10,000 mile pole.

That being said, I too would wonder why anyone would buy something like this from China.

Finally, someone to respond after looking at the coin. Sure it's a fake, heck I know that, you know that and who doesn't. My point, however suble,
is that they are now producing fakes down to dimes. Right now they are crude but soon they will be very GOOD copies. This thread is just an
    awareness thread more than anything.
Personally I have reported this seller and no less than 6 other sellers from China tonight. I do this almost every night. Same sellers and just different
ID's. Same crap. Dollars, halves and now old dimes. I'm sick of it and of them. Every report I lambast ebay for allowing this to go on. Deaf ears.
I doubt that I'm the only one reporting on a regular basis. I'm no cop, just tired of this CRAP coming over from China. They try to poison us, our kids,
    and now our hobby.
I'd better quit, my blood is beginning to boil.

I agree, I try quite hard to buy things that are actually NOT made in China...can be quite challanginging!

I applaud you for reporting these sellers to ebay, I have not done so (simply never occurred to me to do so) BUT will start looking out for and doing the same. These copies will sour unsuspecting buyers on the hobby.

Looks like phony baloney to me, but I'm not 100% sure.

I would suspect it from its appearance first.

Add that to the fact that it's out of China, there's another red flag.

(Sorry, Sumnom, I know you've been on a soapbox railing against this sort of prejudice and "profiling" over on the Darkside lately, with perhaps good reason, but... there it is.)

This rage against 'profiling' is nothing short of taking leave of our collective common sense. Mike

Quite frankly, coins and China just do not inspire confidence. I have seen many, many, many fake coins being purveyed from China.. so much so that I would not consider an auction from there. Not prejudice... simple experiential fact. Cheers, RickO

Looks like eBay shut down the auction...
