1) What do you think it should grade as, and
2) any reason to suspect the color/luster on this coin. It appears okay to me but CN coins are not my strong suit.

Okay, now I see it. Looks good to me in terms of color and surfaces. I'd say about 62.

With that cheek, I would say 61, 62 if you're really really lucky.

It is holdered as AU but priced at 61 money (yes that is odd but that is what my archive research comes up with). I’ve been stymied for my search for a 63 that had good luster, nice strike and didn’t have spots or streaky toning. I had been dreading a jump to 64 money. Asides from the hits on the face is there anything not to like? It would go into a 7070, with an AU FE and a 63 graded CN IHC on either side.

ad4400 - The hits on the cheek are rough, scarface in nature. The birthmarks on the neck are too.

And then we get into the fields.

    AU details, cleaned.

Here is the 1859, I have my album right now. This was slabbed by ICG. It has a few hits on the cheek as well, but most of the stuff in these photos is on the plastic. The price was right, and I liked the full strike, so I bought it. Care to guess what ICG graded it?

Great luster, but too much wear to be uncirculated. I will go with high-end AU, say AU-58.

Nice full diamond strike, but lots of spots nicks and gouges.

JJ - PCGS graded the coin in the original post as a 55. I remember when you posted your coin
previously - very nice and undergraded by ICG if I remember correctly.

Shylock - With regards to the fields, I think it is an issue with the photo/scan. It is a JJTeaparty
pic and all of their pics seem to have that grainy look.

I was gonna say 58 on the coin at the top of the thread.

I agree with AU and don't think it would be a good fit next to the other two in the 7070.

Between the scrathes on Miss Liberty's face and the gouges on the neck, coupled with the look of the diamonds, this coin is a slider, and a problem coin. Pass.

ICG graded the coin 55. There are a few hits on the cheek, but the stuff on the neck is on the holder, and the darker spots are shadows cast by stuff on the holder. I do think the coin was accurately graded. I only paid 130 buck for the coin on a bad photo on Ebay.

I don't know that I'd pass on the coin in the original post if it was priced right... ie AU55 at 55 money...NOT 61 money!
