A Lieutenant no longer....

coinlieutenantcoinlieutenant Posts: 9,319 ✭✭✭✭✭
Well...after much weeping and gnashing of teeth, we have decided to stay in the Navy. And in their infinite wisdom image, the Navy has decided to make me a Lieutenant Commander.

In celebration, post a coin from the following dates and for fun, see if you can guess why the dates are important. image

1845, 1857, 1898, 1902, 1907

Nope, not HI. We are back on the mainland. Part of the deal (with the wife and the Navy) was that we would stay if they sent us back to Monterey. image

    I'm not complaining.

  • Congrats on the reenlistment. Are they allowing you to stay in the 50th state?

No hurricanes in FL this year, so much for all the false predictions of the last 2 years.

    Congrats!

I'm just curious. Does the Navy typically negotiate with people who are looking to leave? You mentioned that part of your deal is that you get to move back to CA. I know when people leave corporate jobs, if they're good, The Man usually makes a counter offer to get them to stay. I was not sure that the Navy did things like that, too.

  • Congratulations on your promotion to Lcdr! Monterey is nice. The last time I was there I spent some time down on Cannery Row enjoying some good clam chowder and margaritas. I spent a bit of time in Hawaii back when I was in the Navy, and I would think it would be hard to leave there.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!
