<< <i>After glancing on the "about Ken" page, in a real sense I feel sorry for him. What would it be like to live with so many concerns that almost everyone else dismisses as nonsense (which I strongly believe is the accurate characterization). I expect that Ken is worried and perhaps angry most of the time and that's sad. On the other hand, I also expect there are plenty more suitable forums for him to post in than these PCGS boards... >>

Canadians will not allow the Amero. They are set against it.

I should stay out of this, but...

    Welcome aboard.

There is no safe place if the catastrophe you predict comes to pass. Oh,
there may be some isolated places of stability such as Iceland but most
such places are quite difficult to emmigrate to.

Frankly I think you worry too much. We're more effective at seeing
that such things don't happen than in preparing for them. This isn't to
saying preparation isn't prudent just that it mostly represents mis-
    spent effort.

MajorDuty had a pretty good answer to a lot of your questions though I
do share a little concern about the official explanation about the Penta-
gon. Even if this concern is justified it should be remembered that part
of government's responsibility is to prevent panic and quell fears. They
seem to be doing a relatively good job on all fronts from where I sit. Of
course, we can all pick fault with a lot of the shenanigans that go on, but
the nuts and bolts seem to generally be well handled.

I trust you have a lot of opinions about coins as well and look forward
hopefully to your sharing some. image

What did the europeans do? Take a big loss in gold? Move? Buy and sell in a different currency?

    >>

I was in Spain this summer for almost a month, and got the opportunity to ask several people how they felt regarding the Peseta/ Euro conversion. To an individual, they all felt as though they lost value.

The conversion rate discounted the Peseta substantially in the official transaction. In addition, the real costs of goods there (versus the US) as compared to wages are very high - and going higher still.

Assuming that the transaction discount was reflected in the price of gold, then the value gold holdings purchased with Pesetas would have dropped in the short run. But in the long run, with the global price of gold having gone up, holders of gold in Spain have done well.

In the end, I don't believe the current conspiracy theories about the Amero. In answer to your question, I think that a conversion to the Amero would have negative implications on the dollar, and would cause a substantial rise in the dollar denominated value of both gold and silver. JMHO.

<< <i>There is some excellent conspiracy comedy on that site. >>

It's a bit more interesting than the usual conspiro-nut stuff. After thumbing through it, I'm not sure what to make of Mr Solar. He's got some bona fide nutjob stuff like his 9/11 comments, but then some good stuff about planting trees and solar energy.

Plus, he supports Ron Paul, so he can't be that crazy, eh image?

Great. The Canadian $ has improved 50% over the past 3 years, and now they're buying our stocks at huge discounts.

Commerce Bank bought by Toronto Dominion today for the same price it was selling at the end of the year last year. More to come.
    HAPPY COLLECTING!!!

<< <i>Actually, the Ameros have already been printed and minted and are ready to go. They're all being stored in Area 51 just waiting for the green light. >>

  • I've heard from a reliable souse that the first shipment of ameros will be delivered for distribution in Roswell by black helicoptors.
We all must certainly extend some measure of respect to " W " who despite being known as a total doofus will be able to pull all this off before he leaves office in 15 months. Dave W

Looks like the majority of the folks in this forum have no idea, that's ok, it's not a widely publicized topic, to say the least. There were a few questions that I had about 9/11 too, that were never answered in their "official 9/11 report". Things like..

What about Building 7? How is that never before in history has a steel bldg collapsed because of fire?
How is that the 3 buildings collapsed at freefall speed on one day, all in their own footprint? How do you fit a 757 thru a 16ft hole? [pentagon]
Why were the windows outside that hole still intact? Where did the wings go? The turbines? Why was all the wreckage tarped and hauled off in a matter of hours?
Have you ever seen the size of a 757? Why did we illegally go into Iraq? We have over 33 bases there now.. Why are we now going after Iran's oil and nuke production?
Think Hitler. Propagandize, disarm, divide and conquer. http://killtown.911review.org/911smokingguns.html The terrorists aren't who you think they are.

I'm surprised that even the NAU and SPP were foreign to you gold folks. I thought most gold people were survivalists, true wealth, freedom loving people. I only see 3 or 4 people here that are "in the know" or at least curious.. I applaud you folks. I also highly recommend those of you who know nothing about this stuff to at least research it on google (or email me). It's very easy to find the individual articles on rfid implants, police state, coming martial law, executive orders out the wazoo, nau, spp, bilderbergers, pnac, etc. Also check out jonesreport.com, i use that site as a portal for cnn, cnbc, reuters, ap, and other news articles. The actual "links" you want are all right there. Watch the google video called "outfoxed" sometime, or "terrorstorm".

Well, at least you've got gold. I hope you also have guns, some food reserves, water collection/purification and storage, etc. The next year and a half is going to be ugly. China is pulling out, the dollar is being unpegged, bush just secretly signed off on another 900+ billion... The Depression of the 30's was nothing. I was really hoping someone could have at least answered my question here, I guess I'll try a different forum, sorry to bother you folks, thanx anyway

Well, at least this poster chose an appropriate coin motif. George III had recurring bouts of insanity roughly about the time of this coin.

2nd, in response to your concerns, (not specifically to each one but more to their collective spirit,) I would say that a.) one can always find evidence to support their highest hopes or deepest fears in any situation, and that the current climate of America is no different in this regard; that b.) in periods of instability, gold has historically been a more stable vehicle for holding wealth than currency, and so if it makes you feel safer to own it than you probably should if for no other reason; but then lastly, that c.) there is oppotunity whereever there is change, and that in such circumstances, (even the dark ones you anticipate,) a positive, optimisitc mental attitude is probably the most valuable thing you could possess.

3rd, if there is an Amero in the works, I, for one, am all for it: anything to get the dead presidents off our coins!! image

4th, this is a coin forum. We used to have an Open Forum here, but they pulled a plug, because it seemed that as long as this group is talking about Half Dime die variations or speculating on the First Wife coins we get along fine, but as soon as we start talking about anything else a riot breaks out. However, you can have the kind of discussion you have began with your introductory thread at this ">place.

My friend Joe, who is a tax man/ musician from Germany called me last night from Alabama where he is visiting other friends from Germany. He loved Nashville and said the food all tastes the same when I asked about the southern cuisine. I asked what he meant ... he said, " you know... Burger King, McDonald's... it all tastes the same". image
