I have to believe the 1997 P SMS Jefferson Nickel with only 25,000 Mintage is the most under appreciated of a Modern Series.

Yep, I agree with Shortgapbob. Seated Liberty dollars, especially with minimal bagmarks, original surfaces, and in AU50+ condition are very good investments. Most of what I see in small dealer inventories in CA, AZ, FL, VA, and MD are coins with altered surfaces and there isn't a lot to choose from.
SAE's...I agree with to a certain extent, but people are still buying LOTS of them..... Morgans...I disagree...sure, they are all over the place, dealers have so many...because again....people buy them!!!
dont know if this coin is underated, but it's starting to gain legitimacy in numismatic circles*drum roll*- the 1971 D IKE FEP (friendly eagle pattern) - believe this coin in future years will be a keeper and much sought after - besides being an interesting coin, it also has an interesting history behind it.

This makes it unanimous. Old coins are underrated and new ones are overrated.
It's important to follow the crowds if you want to make money.

The 1942-P proof Type II nickel has a 27,600 mintage, is the only proof war nickel, and costs about the same as the 1997 P SMS.
