<< <i>The thing is, "Early Releases" IS an accurate description of what is being promoted --coins which are among the first of its type and date released by the Mint.

Well since we're getting nitpicky here, a more accurate label would be "First Released".
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

SeaEagle said it first and best.... FS is nothing more than a ploy to attract the unknowing and those incapable of grading. Oh yes.. also flippers and speculators that feed off this population of sheep. Cheers, RickO
"I like FLBuffaloHunter's comment that people collect what they like."
He's right, unfortunately there are a number of companies with large pools of salesman still telling people that these coins were made first , just got a call today from a potential customer who was being solicted and was led to believe exactly that. The larger problem is that people who don't know better are being screwed.
From a business perspective one can understand that at this point in the game if one service stops using their respective current designations the coins will just be sent to the other. It would take the rare meeting of the minds of NGC and PCGS to do something good for the less knowledgeable as they would both have to agree to do it or neither ever will as they are highly competitive.
In the spirit of consumer protection it would be great if NGC and PCGS would agree to stop using the terms first and early in their certification of moderns. I don't think that it will hurt submissions as there would still be demand for the slabbed coins.

Did that information arrive in a self-destructing eMail?

<< <i>I understand that basestealer has been banned, presumably as a result of his comments on his thread. What a shame.
Yeah. Still, that was more than just a criticism, it was a calling-out.

I agree - it is too bad he is gone. Although I agreed with most of what he wrote, he crossed the line several times.

I was wondering what the outcome would be from his remarks.
