  • What do I do - waste more money and resubmit it?

    In a word . . . YES!

Check and see if its mis cut. I sent in several cards that were pulled from packs and a few came back trimmed. I think its bc they were slightly mis cut but they say trimmed. But they werent , only mis cut. Yours may be the same

Here's the scan again. Man, I am really frustrated. It would be one thing if I had picked it up raw from some random ebay auction - but without getting PSA's approval - it seems worthless. I guess I just resubmit and hope they take it this time. But you're right - that bottom edge might be miscut which would really be a heart breaker - cause the rest of the card is in amazing shape.

the top edge in the gai 10 holder looks trimmed in comparison to the one you pulled.

    i would resubmit.

i've had a similar issue with a 93 sp bettis as of late. i sent it in once and comes back minsize and the next time trimmed. i'm planning to send again...it went straight from a pack to the card saver to psa.

    Thanks,

    David (LD_Ferg)

It could be that the left edge on the bottom of the Smith card has the appearance of perhaps being trimmed when you look quickly at it. Is it miscut? If PSA does most of their grading by the naked eye, as Joe once said, the appearance of the Smith card and its optical illusion on the bottom may have caused it to come back as trimmed. I'd try again, too.

That's exactly what I did. I literally had a card saver waiting for Ozzie rookies. The minute I pulled it - it went into the same saver that I submitted it in. I went through three (BBC) boxes to get a card like that - and even with three boxes, the chances of pulling one that nice are small.

  • << <i>I am so frusterated right now. I was really excited about submitting the card I pulled from those two boxes - you guys all saw my scan - same day as I pulled it - and I sent it into PSA. Got Evidence of Trimming. What do I do - waste more money and resubmit it?

I feel your pain, but mine was from someone who claimed it was a fresh pull. I couldn't imagine taking it from the pack and being told it was trimmed... good luck with a re-sub.

I would include a note saying "please spend more than 30 seconds on this card before calling it trimmed because I pulled it from a sealed wax box myself." They may not believe you, but they will most likely give it more consideration than the first time.

I did that once (with less sarcasm) and the card got holdered the 2nd time.

That's a great idea - thank you. I have always hesitated to include anything but exactly what they ask for - sort of walking on the PSA egg shells.

Wow - that's a great box of OPC. IMO - getting any 9 NQ's is tough.

For any of you that followed this '79 OPC wax break I did a while back - I got a sweet Ozzie Smith (that you can see on page 2 of this thread) that I sent into PSA only to pull a "Evidence of Trimming" non grade - the ultimate slap in the face after pulling the card from wax first hand. So after some prompting from a few board members I resubmitted a few card including the Ozzie with some vouchers I had. Here are the results:

    1 07317522 1979 O-PEE-CHEE 52 OZZIE SMITH N/A 9
    2 07317523 1979 O-PEE-CHEE 121 CHECKLIST 1-125 N/A 8

I honestly thought the Nolan Ryan's were 9's, but I can't complain about these grades - this year is a bear to pull anything high grade.

It's good to see they got it right the second time around on the Ozzie! Beautiful card.

I was heart broken when I got that first grade on it - it's one of those cards you always dream about pulling from a wax box. But they did make good this time around. It definitely restored a little faith in the process for me.

  • Looks like this trimmed thing is a real money maker for PSA, good job being persistent.
  • Big80sBig80s Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭
Well, in their defense - and I will rarely make any defense for them - I originally submitted it by itself as a $13/5. This time around I submitted it with all cards from the same set in hopes to kind of warm the grader up to not only the set, but the OPC cuts. Compared to a regular issued card from the '79 Topps set - a lot of these OPC's look trimmed or miscut. But these graders get paid to know the difference - so my defense is thin.

  • Jeff,

Congrats on the Ozzie grade. I would be interested in your doubles for my set. Please PM me what you have available.

WOW! You have to be ecstatic over that Ozzie pulling a 9! Especially after receiving it as trimmed the first time! Congrats! image

Anyone that has extra L.A. Dodgers, I'd want them. PSA graded 9 or better would be great, but raw that look 8ish/9ish would suffice. image

Yes indeed - very excited about the Ozzie. And if you're interested in Dodgers - I have the Steve Garvey PSA 9 avail from that lot of submissions.
