Which series do you wish had continued longer than they did?

Many series it seems had hardly started before they were replaced. The most obvious ones in my mind are the peace dollar and the standing liberty quarter.
I like cheese, notes, and coins. In that order.

Capped Bust Half Dime, short lived with only 9 years of production. The onset of the Seated coinage killed it in 1837 but it would be cool if it had been started earlier like the other Capped Bust denominations.

Flying eagle cents and Gobrecht dollars - love that eagle reverse on both coins ...

AND ... All of the series that preceded the onslaught of the parade of dead Presidents (plus Franklin) ... incidentally, Washington himself would have disagreed with replacing the SLQ with something in his own likeness. And what a huge step DOWN that was ... along with the Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, Franklin half, and Ike dollar. Those coins are just AWFUL as compared with their predecessors.

I strongly agree with this sentiment !!! image

Ikes! It would be cool if we had these today.... and think of the detailed Pres Dollars that could be done on this size coin (with 1 of 3 being an Ike).

Definitely the fleagles. Although an argument could be made that if they had gone on for 25 or more years, they wouldn't be as special as they are as is.

Flying Eagle cents, Standing Liberty Quarters, Buffalo Nickles (should have kept that one indefinately) ...heck, with apologies to those who like and collect them, any of the series that were replaced by real people!

Standing Liberty Quarters, they had a pretty short run.

Franklins. 43 years is way to long for the Kennedys.

For coins, twenty centers would have been cool.

I remember when Ike's where in circulation, used to get them for my allowance!

It would have been nice if the Peace dollar series had run longer and had a stronger strike!

The whole Seated Liberty Series. It would have been nice to go to the mid-90's.

draped bust /skinny eagles...if the series had lasted more than one or two years maybe I could afford to complete my silver type and my half dollar year sets. As it is, I just can't justify the price of the quarter or either of the halves.
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

Gotta agree on the Flying Eagle cents. It was a pretty decent design, though all 19th century small cents sort of have an arcade token thing about them.

I also agree on the 20 cent piece but for probably a different reason. I'd like to see it today. Get rid of the 1c, 5c and 25c. 10c, 50c (smaller) would be fine for minor coinage and a 20c would fit in fine too.

I despise dead people on our coins, but I have to admit that Franklin was better than Kennedy, except for that cheesy statutory added eagle.
