McAfee vs. PCGS Forums --HELP-- ** Resolved **

Well I upgraded my McAfee security suite, and I cannot remain logged into the PCGS forums, or get in for submission status, 2007 World Series, pop reports, etc.
In McAfee, I have collectors.forums.com, pcgs.com, ebay.com etc all on the accept cookies list. Within i.e. itself, I have override automatic cookie handling set, and again the web sites of interest set to allow. What gives? C
hanging automatic override does not help. Rebooting does not help.

Should it be: forums.collectors.com ... instead of what u have? Not sure though, I'm not a PC nerd.
Still no worky. Must login each post.
All anti-virus programs are. If you are smart about your browsing and about opening attachments, regularly run Virus scans and Adware scans, you have no need to keep it running in the background.
I would shut it off.
AVG is free, and a leader in internet security.

try a different web browser.
if it still does not work, uninstall mcafee and reinstall it.
windows... not much else i can think of.
Good choices.
I run Linux, and Netscape for a browser, no AV software.

I ended up keeping AVG and Trendmicro on my machine. I jettisoned the one (Norton) that came with my computer. Another one that people seem to like is F-PROT.
Each virus scanner finds things the other one doesn't.
The other reminder is to keep them updated regularly.
Danish Shaw: Brian, thank you for contacting McAfee Online Support Center.
Danish Shaw: Your reference number for this chat session is 22803618.
Danish Shaw: How can I assist you with your McAfee software today?
Brian Jordan: I upgraded McAfee a couple dys back and am having great difficulties with cookies. Web sites claim they are blocked, although I have them allowed through both privacy service and Internet Explorer.
Brian Jordan: Also, McAfee is taking 50% of CPU, and take a long time (minutes) to get to the page where cookies are allowed/disallowed.
Danish Shaw: Since when are you experiencing this issue?
Brian Jordan: Since installing the upgrade 2 days ago.
Danish Shaw: How did you try to allow the cookies?
Brian Jordan: I double click the M icon in the system tray....
Brian Jordan: Then click Internet and Network....
Brian Jordan: Then click configure....
Brian Jordan: Then click web browsing preotection is enabled....
Brian Jordan: Then click advanced, and wait and wait and wait....
Danish Shaw: Brian, I understand that after upgrading your McAfee software you are not able to allow cookies on the sites and also your CPU usage is utilizing 50%. Is this correct?
Brian Jordan: And wait and look at system processes and see Mcshell taking 50% of CPU
Brian Jordan: Yes, that is what I said.
Danish Shaw: Thank you for the confirmation and the additional information.
Brian Jordan: Then I click Cookie Blocking
Danish Shaw: Brian, I will be glad to assist you.
Brian Jordan: Quit with the canned responses and type real words.
Brian Jordan: Then I add the URL and click Add in the Accept Coolkie Web Site window.,
Danish Shaw: This issue happens due to incorrect setting in McAfee Privacy Service.
Danish Shaw: To resolve this issue you need to perform the following steps.
Brian Jordan: OK
Danish Shaw: 1. Double Click on McAfee "M" icon to open McAfee Security Center.
2. Click Advanced Menu. (bottom left)
3. Click Configure. (near bottom left)
4. Click the Users panel and then the Advanced button.
Brian Jordan: I'm at the manage users screen.
Brian Jordan: These is a single user name, Administrator, and I am logged in as Administrator.
Danish Shaw: 5. Click Parental Controls. (top left)
6. Select your user account from the drop down list if it is not shown already.
7. Click the Cookie Blocking panel.
Brian Jordan: I'm there.
Danish Shaw: 8. Click the Accept All Cookies option.
9. Click Apply and Ok.
Brian Jordan: Done... but can't I block cookies from the sites I wish too?
Danish Shaw: This is done with your steps. Please check for the websites that are blocked.
Danish Shaw: Yes, for that you need to add the websites in the block tab.
Brian Jordan: I don't follow....
Danish Shaw: I will assist you with the steps.
Brian Jordan: SO the allow all does not allow from blocked sites?
Danish Shaw: No, because you have blocked it.
Brian Jordan: OK--I'm good then. I just tried one of the balking web sites and things worked. Thank You.
Danish Shaw: You are welcome, Brian.
Danish Shaw: I would like to ensure you're satisfied with the support I have offered. Is there anything else I may do to assist you with your McAfee products today?

Danish Shaw: Good Bye and Take Care !!!
Danish Shaw: No, Brian.
Danish Shaw: That is fine.
Brian Jordan: Hopefully that will be cleared in a future release. It is painful. 2-3 minutes for the window to update. Bye
Danish Shaw: Sure, Brian.
