Sorry Mo but until you find your bat, no playing time for you!

Poor Morgan, losing his Astros fans - I'm still with ya, I hope you can come back to true form! haha, anyways, the team is looking better lately. Roy Oswalt is definitely one of the best pitchers in baseball and I really like the potential of Luke Scott and Chris Burke. Do you follow Houston's minor league teams? Whatever happened to Keith Ginter and most notably, Rodrigo Rosario? I thought Kirk Saarloos would have turned out better....bummer, and the same goes for Jason Lane. Geez....whatever happened to Tim Redding? Brilliant in the minors but struggling in the majors...where is he now? I like Ausmus but with the way John Buck is playing for the Royals right now...I kinda wish we would've kept him. Anyways......go Astros!
My voice is shot, my head hurts, and I want to be back in bed; however, it was sooooooo worth it!

Great article about Hunter Pence here. You can't put a numerical value on what this kid brings to the table
May 17, 2007, 12:46AM Rookie brings energy and punch
By RICHARD JUSTICE Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle
HUNTER Pence has brought energy and joy to a clubhouse that needed large doses of both. He has brought power and speed and run production, too.
He's just one guy. Tell yourself that one more time. Just one guy. Remind yourself he's just one guy as you watch the way he has helped transform this club.
He's not the only reason the Astros look dramatically different than they did a month ago. He just seems like it.
Cue the amazing numbers.
The Astros are 11-5 with Pence in the starting lineup, 9-14 without him. He's hitting .355 with four home runs and 15 RBIs after collecting four hits in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over the Giants. He has seven hits and a walk in his last eight plate appearances.
There are other things at work. Carlos Lee is every bit the $100 million slugger the Astros hoped he'd be. Lance Berkman has started to hit, and Mike Lamb and others have made big contributions. The bullpen that looked so shaky in April is airtight in May.
And a starting rotation that has a pair of rookies — Chris Sampson and Matt Albers — has been better than anyone thought possible.
Still, things changed when Pence arrived. He plays the game with such a reckless abandon and seems to be having so much fun that it has rubbed off on almost everyone.
He's making all the plays in center field and driving in big run after big run. Like on Wednesday night, when he hit a towering fourth-inning homer that turned out to be the winning run.
Cue the admiring teammates.
"Energy, excitability, enthusiasm," Brad Ausmus said. "He's a breath of fresh air."
The thing that makes Pence different is how he has been able to channel his excitement. When someone tossed him a ball to warm up with in the ninth inning, he playfully dived for it. When he homers, he sprints around the bases.
Pence smiles constantly and high-fives teammates. And in a clubhouse that was once among the most stoic in all the land, he and Lee have helped in ways almost no one expected.
"He's got so much energy he borders on out of control," Brad Lidge said. "It's a lot of fun to watch."
A quick study Pence is a quick study. When he had dinner and lifted weights before speaking with reporters Tuesday night, Craig Biggio whispered that maybe he should think about taking care of his media responsibilities a bit earlier.
On Wednesday, Pence stood dutifully in front of his locker and answered question after question. About the only thing he hasn't been able to do is wipe the smile off his face.
"I'm never going to take this for granted," he said. "Tomorrow, I might not be able to play again. You never know. I want to enjoy as much of it as I can. I get chills thinking about it. I'm out there watching Barry Bonds hit. It's unbelievable."
General manager Tim Purpura wrestled with the decision to bring up Pence. One of the secrets of the 2005 season was Purpura's patience with the young players.
He tried to be patient this season, too. But with Chris Burke struggling and the Astros looking listless, he reached the end of his rope during a seven-game losing streak in late April.
Purpura knew one young guy sometimes has the ability to change everything if he's not overmatched. Pence did struggle some. His average was down to .219 on May 6. That's about the time Berkman took him aside and told him to take a deep breath, stop rushing his body, and trust his hands and eyes. He's 15-for-30 since.
"I'm just feeling comfortable," Pence said. "My hands feel comfortable. Lance told me that when you come up in those big situations and the crowd is getting loud, don't let your body hit for you in the clutch. Let your eyes hit for you. I take a deep breath and relax."
A childlike love The Astros saw enough in spring training to think Pence might be a difference-maker. He has been that and more.
"He plays the game with the same love today as he did when he was a kid," Purpura said. "He has told me he patterned his baseball life after Jeff Bagwell: Play the game as hard as you can, leave everything you have out on the field, and be a good teammate. He learns and adjusts as quickly as any young player I've been around."
He's the primary reason that a season that appeared to be going nowhere now looks interesting.
"His energy level is the thing," Biggio said. "He's having fun; he's learning. He has been a shot in the arm."
'Let him play' How about this kid, Phil Garner?
"Sometimes we get a little too cool in our game and want to downplay the emotional side of it," he said. "It's fun when you see guys who wear their emotions on their shoulders and want to let it go."
When Garner low-keyed his remarks Wednesday night, someone asked if he was doing so with a purpose. He nodded.
"I'm afraid we're going to get into a frenzy here, and the expectations are going to be unattainable," he said. "The kid's playing good. Let him play. We kept saying he's not the savior here."
It's way too complex to say Pence saved a season. All he succeeded in doing was helping turn one around. And making it all more fun.

Is Biggio hanging it up after this season? he looks pretty awful these days. Sigh. I dropped him from my fantasy roster....Jose Vidro is taking his spot for now.
May 17, 2007 Who needs Vince Young when you've got Hunter Pence? One moment stands out from his brief time in the big leagues. One moment tells you all you need to know about this kid and what he has done for the Astros. It occurred in the ninth inning Wednesday when he was jogging out toward center field and someone tossed him a ball to warm up with. The throw led him by too much, so what did he do?
Hunter Pence dove for the ball! Right there between innings of his 16th major league baseball game. In the dugout, veterans saw it and laughed.
''It's like he's still in Little League,'' Trever Miller said.
That single little thing--along with all those hits and that power and speed and that solid defense--speaks volumes about what has happened to the Astros since he arrived. One kid has made a difference. He has brought energy and all the rest. He has shown the older guys that baseball can still be fun.
Tim Purpura hated making this move because it meant benching a guy they think the world of (Chris Burke). Phil Garner wasn't immediately on board. Remember that the best thing Tim Purpura has done as GM is be patient with his kids, to allow them to settle in and become productive.
But the Astros were lifeless and in a seven-game losing streak when he ordered Pence be brought to the big leagues. He had no idea what the impact would be, but he was hoping for exactly what has happened. He wasn't going to allow a season to slip away.
The Astros are 11-5 with Pence in the lineup. He had four hits, including a game-winning home run in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over the Giants. He's hitting .355 with 4 homers and 15 RBIs. This series was supposed to be about someone else. That guy with all the home runs, that guy on the verge of a record of some kind.
This kid has stolen Barry's thunder. He enters Thursday's game with seven straight hits, one shy of the club record. The Astros were in a fifth-place tie when he arrived. They're now in second, 4 1/2 behind the Brewers.
So much else has happened. The bullpen is dominant. Carlos Lee is anchoring the lineup. The starting pitching has been good enough. There are 123 games remaining, so it would be silly to make a definitive statement about anything. All that's clear is that Hunter Pence has made it fun to watch the Astros again.

Biggio took tonight's game off - I really hope he gets #3000 at home. Looks like it could be lining up for Thursday's game for ya.
And I can't believe I'm saying this but I've actually enjoyed the past couple of articles that RJ has written. He should stick to the Astros and leave writing about the Horns to someone else.
He rode Hunsicker's coat-tails, made some terrible trades/free agent signings (except for Carlos), tried to trade Roy-Freaking-O, and now we are left with crap and a depleted farm system.

<< <i> and now we are left with crap and a depleted farm system. >>
Very true. I try to remain positive but I sure hope Pence stays healthy because beyond him, with the exception of a few guys who are slightly above average, we have one of the worst farm systems in MLB.
By the way, Round Rock had a perfect game thrown against them last night - by a guy named Manny.

The top 4 reasons why Biggio will get 3k tomorrow:
1) I have tickets for tonight's game
2) Biggio got his first hit on June 29th
3) Biggio broke the HBP modern day record on June 29th
4) I purchased tickets for Saturday's game
There's a slight chance that I'll get a ticket for tomorrow's game, which will alter time and change the above prediction

so what is will be the big draw after he gets his 3000th hit. its a shame they didnt play him more in milwaukee, but garner only cares about him getting his big hit at home. i am not sure if he played it the same way with yount when he was in charge in milwaukee when yount got his 3000th. i dont remember. but the talk in the papers didnt suggest that just that it was a shame biggio only played one game.

Biggio almost always rests on day games after night games. He's been doing it for the last 2 - 3 years.
It's not Gar's fault, regardless of how much the outside media wants to spin it. Biggio never really got love from the national media anyway, so why should we care now
FYI - Biggio, his family, friends, and fans all want 3K at home.

Not until the fat lady sings and we are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs
An offensive explosion last night saved our struggling bullpen...
Biggio is only 4 hits away from 3,000...
Hunter leads all major league rookies in batting average (.353), slugging percentage (.609), extra-base hits (32), doubles (19) and triples (five)...
For the fans already giving up on the '07 season and looking for a scapegoat, Richard wrote some articles just for you here and here.
I just bought tickets
And I can't believe I'm saying this but I've actually enjoyed the past couple of articles that RJ has written. He should stick to the Astros and leave writing about the Horns to someone else.
Poopoora sux.
That is all.

He rode Hunsicker's coat-tails, made some terrible trades/free agent signings (except for Carlos), tried to trade Roy-Freaking-O, and now we are left with crap and a depleted farm system.

Very true. I try to remain positive but I sure hope Pence stays healthy because beyond him, with the exception of a few guys who are slightly above average, we have one of the worst farm systems in MLB.
By the way, Round Rock had a perfect game thrown against them last night - by a guy named Manny.

Falalalalala...
She's warming up
I : heart : Hunter
1) I have tickets for tonight's game
2) Biggio got his first hit on June 29th
3) Biggio broke the HBP modern day record on June 29th
4) I purchased tickets for Saturday's game
There's a slight chance that I'll get a ticket for tomorrow's game, which will alter time and change the above prediction
I'm going tonight, tomorrow, and Saturday. Therefore, Biggio will get 3k no sooner than Sunday

It's not Gar's fault, regardless of how much the outside media wants to spin it. Biggio never really got love from the national media anyway, so why should we care now
FYI - Biggio, his family, friends, and fans all want 3K at home.
