Gee, you modern bashers are real funny. You know, I can't think of a single instance, not one, where a modern collector went into a classics thread and took a dump. Maybe you guys should grow up and STFU.

  • Yeah! My half once is in stock, reserved and being processed--ordered last night. So now what--do I get it slabbed or just hold until I can sell?--I'm new at this--have never bought gold before--I usually just buy classics to keep but I couldn't resist the recommendations of everyone regarding this years AGE $25s--should have bought five or ten but I tend to be very conservative. Who knows?--now that I've gotten my feet wet. I would appreciate info from all you guys that actually make money in this game.

Hmm, someone sounds a little nervous about his "investment"?

Now where could you possibly have gotten that idea? In fact, I'll be sure to keep you updated on my "investment". Repeatedly.

  • Not nervous--just want information about whether to have it graded or not--$375 is not that big a deal--spent more than that on an AU58 20 cent piece last month. I just lack information. image

Folks, do not get financially stressed out on the gold fractionals.

There will be other and better opportunities in 2007. Pay down

your credit cards and get ready for next year. Most folks can not

leap on every opportunity. We must all carefully choose those opportunities

which offer the best chances of success.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, while I agree with the first part, I think 2007 is going to be a bad year for speculators who can't fiscally handle a loss......

Too many people are WAY stretching in 2006. In 2005, there were pockets. In 2006, with the 20th Annv sets, people went gangbusters, and for almost all, it worked out. Not, the track record is there and some people will do the same in 2007....for some reason, I don't see the big homeruns sitting there unless the mint surprises us. I think they are over doing the commems and new issues. People will be too fractionalized and confused and speculators will try to corner, and flip, every aspect.

    Be careful out there folks

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

The only 2007 issue I have any interest in are the platinum anniversary coins.

If I were going to guess I bet the 2007 Proof will be the low mintage of this group just like the 50 state sets that everyone brought the silver proof set and the clad set was the real winner! We only have so much to spend on modern type stuff.
  • Eagle market is fractured by mints entry into direct uncirculated coin sales to public. I see bullion dealers cutting way back and regular bullion issues declining in numbers.

10th Anniversary Platinum sets will be a hit unless over produced.
All in the know will have extra credit cards and names/addresses all lined up and it will be Aug. 30 all over again.
  • The only coins I plan to buy next year are the 10 ann. set in plat and maybe a few fractional proof plats for my base collection only. We all need a rest for more reasons than one. The tenth set will be OK if they offer 4,000 or less. If they offer 5,000 sets or more thy will be just marginal. 2,500 sets would be good......yea........2500. I wish, but we will not be that lucky two years in a row.

    Eric,

Do you think that people will just scoop up the plat anniv sets because they will be limited and not really plat collectors? (since the frenzy over the ASE/AGE sets this year)
