LAST CALL FOR THE 2006-W $10 AND $25 GOLD. The half looks like it will come in around 6,500 coins a

GUYS THEY ARE GOING TO GO BLACK IN THE NEXT WEEK MORE THAN LIKEY. Its over for these coins and I think they will come in from 5,500 to 7500. The long rule of the 1991 gold is about to be shattered.........Pick up a coin or two if you can still afford it, because they will be great. Stay way form the single $50 gold...its a dog.

  • Eric,

Why is the $50 a dog? Thanks

    FloridaBill
  • Agreed. $50 gold is a dog. Mintage is already high (20000 from 2 coin AGE and 10000 from 3 coin AGE).

    Go for the fractionals.

The $50 has 30,000 additional mintage from the 20th Anniversary Sets.

  • About 35,000 have sold already. The half is going to finish out this year 3-4 times rarer than the $1,200 1991 gold half. The quarter will be very low but might not be $10 series king because it must face the mighty 1999-w gold for supremacy in the set. It will be a good coin though.

p.s. I will be broke if the mint keeps giving me soooo many opportunities to make money. Of the money I have spent on US Mint purchases and PCGS grading fees in the last 3 months, I have only re-couped about 11% though sales of 3 coins. On the bright side, the sale price of those 3 coins paid for about 9 coins original purchase cost!

Interest will intensify on the fractional W uncirculated gold coins now that all of the platinum uncirculated W coins including the one ounce are sold out.

I have been buying the 1/2 oz coins for the past couple weeks and stockpiling. Just bought 2 more at 6:45 Pacific and they still show in stock. Those of you on the fence better take the plunge soon.

I read in an article that if you bought one of everything from the mint this year it would cost just short of $15,000.00.

They just have too much to offer. image

    I'm leaning towards the 1/2.

    It's a 'gut' thing.

Ouch!! I just took a look at my 'gut'.....oh my...and Christmas Cheer(another name for too much food) is upon us in full.

The half ounce will have a lower mintage then the quarter ounce and has more potential. Stay away from the ounce coin.

How much would they sell for on the Bay? My guess is its north of the cost. The spoons, yeh you would loose but all the bags, the reverse proof sets, etc have gone bonkers.

  • << <i>So which will turn a better percentage? the 1/4 or the 1/2? >>

The 1/2 will have a lower mintage but I think more people will be able to afford the 1/4 especially after they sell out and the aftermarket prices go up.

I thought the same. When with the 1/4's

  • I think the % return will probably be higher on the quarters, at least in the short run. I bought 2x quarters vrs halves.

  • Now you tell me, Eric...after I maxed out my card on plats! Just kidding--hopefully both will be winners.

I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."
  • ddbirdddbird Posts: 3,168 ✭✭✭
    ...Just bought 6 (1/2s) and 3 (1/4s)...

2 halfs and a fourth for me, my dad, and brother.

I figure absolute worse case scenerio they can't go below the price of bullion. So unless gold takes a nose dive, not much to loose.
  • one good thing about the mint is you can use your credit card and pay next to nothing for shipping. The prices on the gold "W" eagles are pretty close to bullion value.
$190 for the $10 eagle - right now a 1/4 oz eagle is about $170. Soon enough $190 will be cheap for a quarter oz. of gold in any form.

That said, the thought of thousands of these pouring into NGC and PCGS is a little nauseating..
  • fishcookerfishcooker Posts: 3,446 ✭✭
Great. I quietly bought the gold when the plats were being hyped.

    !

Circ, check your calculator battery on the "close to bullion" estimation.

Well, I'm in for 2 more 1/2 oz and one more 1/4. Something tells me these won't last through the day wednesday.

Watch out that you don't go too broke you bunch of Coin Dawgs. When the first lady crap comes out there may be buyer resistance and you won't be able to jump on the band wagon.

I think the US Mint is out to take us all to the poor house. image
  • just picked up three 1/2 oz's. Between the plats and these, PCGS will get a lot of additional grading fees from me.
